Yah you are only guaranteed a year. And begging once you get it won’t really help since they deal with housing for that school year only. You can then apply again half way through your first year at UCLA, but you aren’t guaranteed a spot. I am not really sure how likely you are to get housing if you apply.

why would you need housing for 3 years as a transfer?

For sophomore, junior, and senior year?

That is a sucky rule. Would I have to get a University-owned apartment? How far are they from classes? Can I still study in the libraries in the wee-hours of the night?

I WILL CRY & BEG AT THEIR FEETS FOR DORMS EVERY YEAR.

Transfers are typically after their second year, so they enter in their 3rd.

Since UCLA guarantees freshman 3 years of housing and transfers 1 year, they both are guaranteed housing through their 3rd year of school.

I’ve never heard of anyone applying and getting rejected. In fact, ask around and you’ll know that there are tons of 4th years in university housing this year. This is because a lot of students move out after two years and find an apartment (in fact, this is the norm).

Also, university apartment is much harder to get into than OCH, but the application process is the same.

That better be the case!! I will cry and camp outside their offices until they guarantee housing every year for me.

Btw, why is everyone saying it’s so hard to transfer after 1 year? As long as one has all the pre-reqs, it should be okay, no?

^^^ Goes back to my statement - if you can transfer after one year, you should be able to finish in 2 years.

^What makes you say that? Because most people take 2 years to finish their prereqs?

lol, reminds me of my ex-girlfriend whenever she wanted me to buy her some shoes or something.

No, because you say you will transfer. The whole idea of transferring is to do it at roughly the 1/2 way point. Thus, when most graduate in 4 years, halfway would mean you only have 2 years to go. I don’t understand why you intend to transfer and then complete 3 years at UCLA

LOL that is funny & sad…

@binks09 - I plan to go to some whatever school in NY for my frosh year of college (yeah I’m a junior in hs right now) and I want to start completing my reqs starting the summer before my freshman year or even the spring of senior year, so hopefully I’ll have all the requirements done by my 1st year, so I can send in a transfer app. Then I’ll have 3 years at UCLA (soph, junior, senior year).

Why not worry about getting into UCLA first before you start worrying about housing?

Well that is one of my main concerns once I get in (if I do get in).

If I don’t get in, I’ll stay at whatever school I’m at.
