Does anyone know if we get the chance to update our essay or submit new information after the deadline?
My grades may not be in by the due date (15th) and I don’t want to risk running out of time?

@SquidWardT I don’t think that grades are necessary. I plan on putting In Progress for both of my classes.
Thanks.
I actually called and they seem to say that you can’t update anything after the 15th. That’s your only chance.
So don’t anticipate adding more after that.
Waitlisted with approximately a 3.4 GPA, Architecture major. I took 14 architecture classes at my local community college, IGETC completed, attended UCLA’s Jumpstart Architecture program last summer and took an architectural history course at the same time at UCLA, enrolling me in a total of 11 units. Hopefully I’ve got a chance ! UCLA is my top choice !
Anyone else out there an Anthropology B.A. major?
@futurelawyer218 me! I just submitted my statement right now. what are your stats?
Polisci major waitlisted.
3.6 GPA, 4.0 Major GPA
I honestly think I was waitlisted because of my extracurricular stats, so if they pull off the waitlist by virtue of GPA only then I’m screwed. Although my top choice is USC, I am eager to hear about UCLA. I wrote my ‘essay’ about the difficulties in higher education coming from a family/community of American Indians (I’m from Northern CA) and how UCLA would give me a chance to change the pace in my own community.
Did you guys end up using all 7,000 characters?
@kellbellfell not even close. I couldn’t think of anything more to say :-<
I’ll assume everyone on a waitlist gets an email from UC Merced?
@kellbellfell I used about 4500 but I don’t wanna bore them so I may just trim it
@InTheNightSky95 I didn’t get one.
@champagnemami Yeah, I used about 4500 too
I only used about 900 RIP
that’s weird, then. Because Merced doesn’t even offer my major, so I wonder what the deal is?
Hi all! I’m a little late to this.
I was wait listed for psychology. I’m an honors transfer student (TAP certified) and have a 3.9 overall GPA. My IGETC is done but I’m about to finish two of my prereqs that UCLA wanted, right now. I wasn’t aware that not having them done before spring would hurt your chances- I thought just summer. I was also under the impression, like some of you, that TAP would basically lock in your chances. When I began the honors program my counselor said that TAP students automatically can get moved to the “yes” pile from the “maybe” pile. And they will be considered for an alternate major if they’re not admitted to their first choice.
My counselor reached out to her contact at UCLA and tried to find out why I was wait listed. Her contact told her that it was because they only took people (at least for psych) currently finishing no more than one prereq. Apparently because they’ve been having a problem with students not finishing them. She also said that UCLA is sensitive to the fact that students from northern California normally end up choosing a place up here (like Berkeley) over UCLA. Hopefully this helps someone!
Anyway, I got into Berkeley! I submitted my wait list statement for UCLA with only about 1200 words, but fingers crossed.
I used about 4500 characters? I added a response to why UCLA is amazing and what I contribute along with fall, winter, and spring projected grades!
Math/Econ
Waitlist.
It seems like there are only a few students on the waitlist. I have lost my hope.
I got a C for my English course last semester.
Do you guys think the lack of waitlisted applicants is a good indicator or a bad one? Last year’s thread seemed a lot busier.
@exlibris Personally, I don’t think it means anything, but I HOPE it’s a good sign, haha.
When decisions initially came out, did you guys get an email from the UC system telling you to check the site? I never did.
@exlibris I just assumed most of them are off CC or the ones that were on CC left the UCLA convo altogether after getting in elsewhere. I personally don’t think it means anything.
@kellbellfell I think I did recieve an email from UCLA, just can’t remember. It wasn’t even in spam? That’s a bit odd.
