UCLA Transfer Waitlist Thread 2021

i’m rly confused on what to write besides my grades

basically why ucla is a good fit for you over any college and also that you would accept ucla if they offered you a spot

Back here lol :sob: same sad waiting game…
I saw the 2020 transfer waitlist thread and some people received decision on may 30! I also read some didn’t get an email and we have 3 days to respond…Idk if I should enter the portal like everyday

I will give UCLA until June 20th so good luck to us all!

how long should our LOCI’s be?

i didn’t really make it into an essay format tbh, I stated my grades and I added some extracurriculars that are new or that I forgot to add to my app and I expanded on them a lot like why they are relevant to my major, I also wrote about my career plans and why UCLA is the school for me

my friend wrote two paragraphs when she wrote hers. it basically said what she accomplished from when she submitted the apps to now and how she would be a good fit into UCLA.

edit: she got in btw this was last year

thanks yall

im thinking of maybe editing mine to include career goals but idk, i dont want it to be too lengthy and bore them lol

Hi you guys glad we’re in this together
Just looked through 2020 waitlist thread and people started to be notified May 30-June 6th and on. There is no pattern in which majors come first. Some people got accepted in August.
waiting is what we are good at I guess?

Also, it’s not a first come first serve basis, so I am planning on developing my essay over these next 2 weeks. It’s still an honor to be considered ‘qualified’ enough to be wait listed!

I hope we all get notified may 30th-first week of June! See you guys on may 30th!

yeah, i’m definitely going to be revising mine since i have the option to continue editing it until may 15 (:

yesss i’m definitely gonna pull out all my writing energy into this lol

Anyone wanna feed stats?
English major, 3.79 (3.75 major) GPA.
A lot of my courses were geared towards UCI so I didn’t do as many courses for LA as I’d like. We have 4 total transferrable for my major, I have 1 completed and 3 IP (might be why I was waitlisted).
Generally questionable ECs, but I really poured my heart out on the essays despite it being also kinda controversial so maybe that’s what pulled me through.

Sure
Communication Major, 3.87 gpa
I finished all my pre-reqs, IGETC, and graduated my cc Fall of 2020
My ECs were pretty decent but my essays were really good in my opinion, I think despite my below average gpa for my major, that’s what pulled me to the waitlist instead of rejection.
I also have work experience and currently work 2 jobs haha
Currently my school stats are:
Accepted: UCB and UCD
Waited: UCLA
Pending: UCSD and USC

Psych major GPA: 3.17
*I applied for psych at UCLA, however I have a lot of STEM classes because I applied to Psych (BS) at other schools → low gpa due to C’s in calculus and chemistry classes but have all A’s in psychology courses,
*completed IGETC

EC:
-CCCP program, stayed at UCLA summer 2019 for a week, Summer 2020 took a course at UCLA and got an A so I have a UC gpa of 4.0

  • Played badminton at my CC
-did a program at UCSB, got to stay there a weekend
-presented at the HTCC research conference at UCLA

Horrible GPA is probably the main reason for the waitlist…I would say my PIQ’s really helped me though

I also have new EC which I will be providing in my waitlist statement

-I forgot to add to my app that I was coauthoring a chapter for a book the professor I had a class with at UCLA is writing
-hired for UCLA STAND for all (it is like an externship to train students to help other students who may suffer from anxiety, depression etc)
-currently starting working part time

Accepted into UCI for Business Administration, but got waitlisted at UCLA for business economics. Looking back at it, I should have changed my major to just economics since it has a higher acceptance rate. Anyone in the same boat?

Also, I got super curious about UCLA’s transfer waitlist stats and I bought the $10 thing from askmssun. I’ll share it with you guys so you don’t have to spend $10 like me lol.

ur a RN for that

For what it’s worth that’s a considerably large amount of WL acceptances, probably maybe a lot more spots for humanities if I were to guess but really you should try at the bare minimum anyway.

If we SIR to another UC will it jeopardize our UCLA waitlist? Presently only Santa Barbara loves me.
