UCLA Transfer Waitlist Thread 2021

It will not affect you, you will just lose your $250 deposit and will need to call or email admissions at UCSB to change your intent to register and then you can SIR at UCLA… I am not SIR-ing until the last day just incase I am told May 30th like some were last year

Thanks Naarwhal! I couldn’t find explicit wording on the decision portal.

Do you have a discord tag? I’m basically in the same situation as you and would like to chat a bit.

i’m going to wait until the end of may to sir to cal just in case… since some transfer waitlist students hear back before the end of june

PM’ed.

UCSD better release decisions today lol :sob:

someone called and ucsd said they’re releasing tmr afternoon. i HATE ucsd

hey u guys… i actually decided i’m just going to commit to cal. i’d rather start planning and getting excited than continue the stress and heartache of maybe not getting off the waitlist. i think its unlikely w/ my major anyways. wishing you all luck for getting off tho, i’ll be sure to stay updated bc i want to see where you all go!

hi everyone! thought i’d join this thread since i’ve been scouring the internet for ucla waitlist information the past two days! nice to see that there’s people out there in the same (anxious) boat as me.

if it helps, here’s my stats:

communication major, 3.8+ gpa
finished all my pre-reqs, finishing up the last 2 classes for igetc right now.

ecs:

  • worship leader, pre-professional dancer, competitive hip hop dance company, live concert and portrait photographer, graphic design & pr internships in sf, production experience, worked for a startup company that teaches leadership skills to young girls

lower gpa was probably the reason for my waitlist, esp. because comm is impacted.

accepted: uci (dance major), ucsb (communications)
waitlisted: ucla
pending: usc

Hey there! So glad ppl made this thread bc I was going bonkers. Everyone here is amazing and reading through everyones replies makes me feel less alone
I wanted to share my stats, haven’t seen too many STEM majors in these replies, so here’s some of my info:

Major: Neuroscience

GPA: 3.76 (a bit low imo, I only had two B+ which brought my GPA down a bit, I’m honestly surprised I got waitlisted with a GPA like this in STEM by UCLA’s standards)

CC/UC: I’m transferring from UCR

Extracurriculars: Research lab intern for over a year now, was able to become an undergraduate research fellow at my sciences college, chosen for a competitive research program at UCR, volunteer with the ASUCR civic engagement committee, MARC U STAR finalist, and I have a part time job

Career interest: biomedical research

Other rejections/acceptances/waitlists: rejected from UCI, rejected from cal, waiting on UCSD.

Essays: I’m pretty sure these were what saved me from the rejection pile, I went all in and made sure they were strong

I’m not a first gen student, however I did write an essay on the underrepresentation of Latinas in medical/research fields, and maybe that’s what stuck with UCLA. Anyways, lmk if there’s any fellow STEM ppl out there, much much love
