UCLA TSP Students!

hello~

I am a new member on forums and was very curious in learning who is going to attend summer TSP! it would be very nice to learn more about each other. I searched and did not find any other thread recently, but so sorry if this is a duplicate~

What class did you decide to take? I am hoping I got into my first choice of Community Psychology but have been notified that not everyone was enrolled into their first choice.

also...what are you planning to take? I know the whole bed material...but what else? I am very lost and know I should take more but am a bit not sure on what exactly...any thoughts would help me greatly! ^__^v!

oh...

if you have any experience to share, please do! I am very nervous...it is almost here!

sry for my english...~ >__<;;;;

thank you for all who read this!

안녕하십니까!!!

한국말 하실 줄 아세요?

Sorry if you don’t, kekeke! <3 You have the same name as one of my really good friends!

I am attending TSP and I also picked the Psychology course, hopefully I get into it! It would be great if we both got in then!

What am I planning to take? I am visiting family in Korea for a bit, and am getting my things here! Besides the bed things…I’m taking…:

-bunches of bb creams (lolll) /face stuff (makeup…)
-(surprisingly) not too much clothes.

I have a bunch of friends who are now seniors this upcoming fall quarter at UCLA and they’ve told me all about their experience at TSP last summer…and they told me they packed wayyy too much clothing. Five-six pairs of jeans is alright!

I hate tap water so I have to take a bunch of boxes of water. I also might just end up going to the nearby Ralphs and making the parents buy me more large gallon bottles, just in case.

-computer stuff
-cell phone charger (!!!)
-school stuff (dur…lol)
-padlock
-desk lamp
-first aid kit
-hamper
-detergent
-air freshener

I can’t believe I have so much stuff…well…it’s enough. I am still adding to my list! I really hope it helps!

This thread was a good idea by the way! I hope we can get to know each other more!

Take care!

Hi! TSP checking in! I’m taking the race and public policy course :)

안녕하십니까~ 예, 조금요~~~~!!! >__<;;;; ahh. I truly hope we are roommates. I am nervous that my English will not be so well and will not be able to speak with my roommate…

wow!~ thank you two so much for replying back too quickly, i truly appreciate it! I feel so much less nervous already! ^0^ and thank you for adding a small list…I will write suggestions down, thank you~ please add more if you are taking more/anything different! ty!

anyone else please respond!!!

ㅋㅋㅋㅋ!!!

Don’t worry, it’s okay! I already know one of my roommates (it’s a long story, but we got to be roommates after a month of convincing, ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ!) It would be awesome if you were our third roommate! I would feel completely at ease, and that way we wouldn’t be “excluding” anyone from anything since we all speak Korean. My friend/future roommate is also in Korea with another friend visiting family! If you haven’t, please try to email summerprograms and let them know your situation, my roommate is SUPER shy and her parents pretty much asked if we can be roommates or else she would be completely uncomfortable with different people! I am sure they can make an exception for you if it means you being able to succeed and being comfortable in the program! Let me know how it goes!

Is it okay if I PM you? We really need to chat! <3

I have sent you a private message. thank you~

does anyone know the textbooks we will need also? they told us in the packet we will find out later, but I am sure those will be very much expensive and my parents cannot afford so much right now…

Cool! I got your message, we’ll chat on messenger then! I’m super excited!

Oh, and regarding the books! Yes, I do know the textbooks from last year. I emailed summerprograms and they told me they still aren’t sure if they will use the same ones (that probably means they won’t) so to hold off on buying them…which is why they are giving us that information when we arrive. If they DO have the same ones as last year, don’t worry, we can share! I’m planning on sharing with my roommate to save money too! (my friends are giving them to me, ㅋㅋㅋㅋ!)

I’ll message you on there now!!!

Oh hey! theregoesevan! What have you been up to? I’ve rarely see you on the CC boards anymore!

TSP checking in

I think I signed up for the psych class too…dont really remembeer

cant wait for the program to start; hopefully we get more freedom than was outlined in the packet

Hey Rheel! I’ve been taking it easy down here in San Diego, waiting to move back to LA! I’m currently marathoning Nip/Tuck on Netflix. Other than that, counting the days! I asked about the textbook situation, and the girl I spoke to on the phone said to call back on the 21st or 22nd and they should have the book information (I plan on getting mine on Chegg!)

How are you, Rheel/future classmates? :D

I feel really weird with people still calling me by my last name, just call me Tiffany, that’s my name, lol. Oh cool! I got to know one of the girls who works in the AAP office (she actually called me today and told me to call back next week sometime) so I will, thanks for the info you got too!

I’m doing good too! We’re leaving to go to Japan (finally) tonight. We went to Hong Kong for four days and are back in Korea. When I checked my email and saw that we got another email that said two weeks…I had to check the calendar. As much as I’m excited, I’m somewhat nervous too. 11 units?! ■■■. :|

Seriously, but at least we’ll like definitely graduate within 2 years (relatively stress free) because we’ll be nearly a quarter ahead of everyone unit wise :D

That’s like…the biggest reason to do this for me, well–that and getting comfortable with the quarter system again.

Sorry, random question–but will you be getting there on Wednesday morning? The girl told me I could get there at (latest) 2:00PM for that first workshop. My flight is getting moved around and I don’t want to be in a COMPLETE rush.

I dont have the schedule in front of me, but I believe I will be arriving in the morning of move in at whatever time they have us arriving.

Yeah…that’s crazy, no thanks. I don’t want to be there when all the TSP students move in, sounds like too much of a pain. Then we’ll be like n00bs looking around for our room number, nahhh…

haha Hi guys! TSP here! I signed up for the Community Psych class too… & not sure what I am bringing yet except for my car and I’ll prob pack way more stuff than necessary and leave it in my trunk… When will the rooms be assigned? Post an update when you hear what books are required… :)

haha when I first read that I thought it said “and leave when I’m drunk”

Hey has anyone talked to TSP students from last year about what times our classes will start at? I am taking the Psych class for my elective… I am kinda hoping to find out what time we will be in class… Also is class Mon - Thurs or Mon - Fri…

hi~

I have been speaking with Tiffany and she tells me that classes are Monday to Friday~

also if I am not mistaken, the main speaker at the aap event said tsp classes would be from Monday to Friday.

oh wow! Thanks Juliet! Do you know what time classes start? or end? just curious how early we will be getting up… :P)
