UCLA, UCB, UCSD, and UCI

Hello! I was just hoping for some outside criticism on my chances at UCLA. It’s my top choice but I’m not getting too hopeful just encase. UCSD and UCI are my next choices so hopefully I get into one of those as well haha. Without further ado, here is a breakdown of my accomplishments. (All a-g requirements will have been fulfilled by senior year).

Freshman Year: I took 3 “Accelerated” classes and 3 regular and got a 3.33 first semester and 3.83 second semester. Together I got a 3.58.

Sophomore Year: I had 2 honors, 2 AP, and 2 regular classes and got a 3.83 first semester (4.17 weighted and 4.5 with honors included) and 3.66 (4.00 weighted and 4.33 with honors included). My GPA dropped since for half the second semester there was some family stuff going on. Together I got a 3.75 (3.96 weighted and 4.42 with honors included).

Junior Year: I have 5 AP classes and 1 honors class. I got a 3.83 (4.83 weighted) first semester and I got a 4.00 (5.0 weighted) second semester Together I have a 3.93 (4.75 weighted and 4.92 with honors included).

Senior Year: I will take 6 AP and 1 regular class to show that I am continuing to challenge myself beyond junior year.

In summary: I will graduate with 13 AP classes under my belt. A large majority of my B’s were freshman year. For sophomore and junior year I have totaled 3 B’s and the rest A’s.

Note: I have taken English, History, Math and Science, all at maximum difficulty for all four years, while only taking Spanish for two years. I took AP Physics B to supplement my lack of foreign language.

SAT/ACT: I bombed the SAT lol… I did however score a 30 on the ACT! I only submitted my ACT score.

Extracurricular Activities: Link Crew (3 years, two as a comissioner), Tutor (3 years), Key Club (3 years), NHS (2 years), CSF (4 years), volunteer at dentist office (4 years), Recycle Club (3 years, 1 as VP and one as President), tennis (4 years, 1 as captain), and tennis camp (3 years).

Awards: I got this academic CORE award from my school, CSF award (also academic), a Bearcat Spririt and an AP Scholar Award.

My school is ranked 1216th (silver division) in the nation if that matters at all. I also want to point out that my GPA has gradually increased from freshman to junior year which is something that people say matter for college. Thank you ahead of time for your help!

I’m a first generation college student.

I applied to UCLA myself, so I have some knowledge. UCLA students have ACT scores between 26-32 typically, so you’re good! However, you may be wrong about your SAT score. You need a 1700 or something like that. GPA is typically around the 4.25- 4.3 range. From what I can tell, you’re a match. However, they have holistic applications and look for personality. That’s shown through community service and your essay prompts. The school looks for well-rounded students, and I’d say you are one based upon your extrac’s. Best of luck to you! Let’s hope we both get in! That 18.2% acceptance rate sucks!

Even though you were asking for a chance from UCLA too, you can chance me if you want! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1728965-chance-me-please-will-chance-back.html#latest

What is your UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

It’s a 4.21. But on the UCLA site it says the GPA of 10-11th grade its graded all the way up to a 5.0

UCB: Low Reach
UCLA: High Match
UCSD: Match
UCI: Low Match

Thank you so much for the insight!
