UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCSB (Computer Science)

<p>Where can I get in for computer science undergrad? I'm from florida and am applying to many out of state schools (I'm mainly concerned with UC's).</p>

<p>I'm applying regular decision to:
Columbia
NYU
Stanford
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
USC
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Santa Barbara
UC San Diego
UC Berkeley
UCLA</p>

<p>Scores:
SAT: 2120 (retaking)
- Math: 750
- Writing: 750
- Reading: 620
ACT: 28 (retaking)
SAT Math II: 640 (retook and expecting a 750)
SAT Physics: 640 (retaking)
SAT U.S. History: 750</p>

<p>I have a 3.67 unweighted GPA and a 4.14 UC GPA (only my AP's count for an extra point). My grades in freshman year were about half A's, half B's, and 2 C's (one in biology first semester and one in literature second semester). Sophomore year I got like half A's half B's. Junior year I got two thirds A's and 2 B's first semester and all A's second semester. I don't know if it helps but clearly I've shown progression.
I've taken all honors and AP's at my school except for AP Literature and AP Chemistry. I've taken AP European History, AP US History, AP Statistics, and AP Calculus AB. My teachers were god awful for Euro and Stat so I only scored a 1 and a 2 respectively. I scored a 4 in APUSH and a 5 in Calc. Over the summer going into senior year I took five summer classes (Composition 3 at school, Drawing I at a community college to fulfill the art credit requirement, and 3 honors classes on Florida Virtual School - anatomy & physiology, marine science, and earth & space science. My senior year schedule is:
Dual Enrollment Literature Honors
AP Physics Dual Enrollment
Space Tech. & Engineering Honors (Second Semester is AP Macro Economics Dual Enrollment)
Multicultural Studies (required)
AP Calculus BC
AP Composition (Second Semester is AP Government)
*I'm taking an additional online course - AP Computer Science A</p>

<p>Sorry for this being so long but please let me know what you think.</p>

<p>Here on College Confidential, the UC GPA is the capped weighted GPA from 10th to 11th grade. Use this link to correctly calculate your UC GPA. It is probably lower than 4.14. <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

<p>Stanford - high reach
Columbia - high reach
NYU - idk
USC - idk
Cal Poly SLO - low reach
UCB - high reach
UCLA - high reach
UCSD - reach
UCD - low reach
UCI - low reach
UCSB - low reach</p>

<p>I think you should add some matches and safeties because right now, you have none.</p>

<p>My stats:
3.66 unweighted
4.29 fully weighted
4.00 capped UC
2300 SAT</p>

<p>My results:
Rejected by UCB, UCLA, UCSD, Cal Poly SLO
Waitlisted by UCD, UCI</p>

<p>@Mangiafuoco‌ I just redid it and my capped is 3.9 but my capped is skewed from everyone else’s. I have much more classes than most people do so only eight semesters of weight doesn’t really do much for me. For fully weighted, it’s even more skewed. If I put weight on all my honors and AP’s then my UC GPA is 4.438. Will the admissions committee take note of the fact that I’ve taken 32 semesters from 10th and 11th grade and of the fact that I’m out of state so none of my honors will affect my grade?</p>

<p>Your UC GPA capped at 3.9 is your UC GPA. It doesn’t matter that you have more classes than other applicants, that is why the UC GPA calculation is capped with 8 semesters of AP/Honors classes. This gives a more level playing field (per se) since different schools have different weighting systems. Admissions will note your course rigor in comparison to other applicants.<br>
Just as an added note: You will not get any financial aid for the UC’s as an OOS student, so are you able to pay the $55K/year price tag?</p>

<p>UCB/UCLA: Reach
Cal Poly SLO/UCSD: Low Reach
UCD/UCI/UCSB: High Match</p>
