I am from California and like sd/la. I want to get a general feeling about my chances, and I have safety and match schools set already so these would be my top choices.
UW GPA: 3.6 WGPA: 4.16
UC C/W: 3.75 UC Uncapped: 4.2
SAT I: 1590/1600 [cost me some of my life soul]
SAT II: Math 2 – 760, Physics – 790
My ecs are average, some club positions and varsity sports, usual community service stuff, and some fun but not that flashy internships.
I would be totally happy going to some of my other choices (I am Canadian national so going to prestigious uni’s like McGill and U of Toronto are much easy + they only focus on junior and senior year grades which I have a 4.00 unweighted and 4.75 weighted due to AP’s + I apply as an “in province” student due to nationality), but UCS are close and I don’t have to have to move and stuff. What are some other good uni suggestions based on my profile. Thanks boizz
Great test scores but your GPA could be an issue for the UC’s which are very GPA focused.
For UCSD, the Freshman admit rate with a UC capped weighted GPA of 3.4-3.79 was for 2016: 3%
For UCLA, the Freshman admit rate with a UC capped weighted GPA of 3.4-3.79 was for 2016: 6 %
Overall admission rate for all the UC’s for the 3.4-3.79 UC GPA range was 47%. If you write some compelling essays that could definitely help your chances and still worth an application fee.
Good Luck but I think these schools are in the Reach category.
UCs Love high GPAs more than test scores (GREAT JOB BTW). If you have a compelling story, either could happen With a 3.75, I think Santa Cruz and Riverside are more likely. Depending on your major, Cal Poly could also happen. SDSU is also worth a look - Just understand, there is no financial aid for international students. A UC will set you back $55k/yr and a CSU $35k. I know the Looney is relatively weak right now. That is a big bill for a public school.
Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount and University of San Diego are some private options worth exploring.
Your GPA is very low for most of the UC’s. Seriously consider USC, USD, Pepperdine, Occidental, and Loyola Marymount.
