UCLA, UCSD, or UC Davis?

I'm an art history major/transfer student. I've gotten accepted to UCSD in 6th college and I meet TAG requirements so I'm sure I'm in Davis and I have a good feeling about UCLA.

I'm wondering about campus sizes (out of the 3 which is biggest to smallest), getting around campus, class/workload difficulty, nightlife/life outside of campus, if teachers/counselors are helpful, housing, and if meeting people will be an issue. I'm also looking into studying abroad Fall 2012.

I'm a little nervous about being left in the dust at UCLA. I'm a smart girl but I'm just very intimidated by it. UCSD I hear is pretty dead from what I've heard but I have the comfort of a solid friend who goes there. UC Davis is close to where my family is so that's the reason I'm looking into that but I don't know much about it.

I'm just confused and need some more perspective on the situation. I'm a lucky girl to have this opportunity and I don't want to mess it up. It's hard jumping into a new thing. Thanks so much!

LOVE YOUR USERNAME. And if no one replies here, you should try the search function on this site. Or go to Davis’, UCLA’s, etc forum and ask there

Visit all 3 schools. Out of the ones you mentioned, I loved Davis and LA at first, and UCSD seemed okay. It’s important to get a sense of where you fit in…if you can see yourself there easily and are comfortable.

Btw no need to fear UCLA :). If you’re admitted, you earned it and the admissions committee is confident that you’ll succeed there.

im no art history major but i would say go to ucla. This is simply because the name and reputation that ucla carries. Also, around ucla there are plenty of art museums that you could potentially intern or work at. In addition to that, often times, people get jobs off of simply the name of the school they went to. No need to feel intimidated just work your hardest and the rest will follow!

GOOD LUCK!

im waiting for ucla’s reply too and its killing me :(

For art history, academics probably won’t matter since you probably won’t get a job after graduation. I would say to to UCLA for the culture; Westwood, Santa Monica, and adjacent areas are the “real” LA that people dream of. SD is really nice. La Jolla is beautiful and SD has a thriving urban art culture. Davis is surrounded by cows…

And don’t be intimidated by UCLA. If you went to a public highschool and experienced honors classes, it’s only a step above that. There are more intelligent people than there are dolts and 1/20 would be considered really smart.

you’re all so helpful!!! thank you so much.
yeah, i’m only intimidated because i feel like community college has been too easy.
but yes… waiting for UCLA to get back to me is sooooo hard too.

does anyone know about their transfer housing??? i know UCSD has a nice set up.

Art history? UCLA is a great option: excellent reputation access to some of the best museums, rich in art history: The Getty, LACMA, The Huntington - - access to jobs/internships.

1) UCLA
2) UCSD
3) UC Davis

like pp said, as an art history major you really want/need to be in a big city.
