I was looking up guidelines on repeat classes and came across this so called unauthorized repeat. On the UCLA site it says:

A notation of “Unauthorized Repeat” or “Illegal Repeat” will show on your transcript if:

You received a C or better or a Pass the first time you took the course, OR

You repeat the same class more than once.

Does this mean I can repeat a class that I got a C in or will I get in trouble for that? Anyone can inform me about this policy? Also, will the new grade show up or no?

I think it's pretty clear they are discouraging you from retaking a class you already passed. I don't even know why you would want to do that. Take a new class, get an A, it'll raise your GPA by the same amount and you'll learn something new.

^ITA with norcalguy. I don't really understand why people are so set on retaking classes they passed. It can cost thousands to retake a class depending on where you go. Not worth it by any stretch of the imagination. Also, in undergrad I didn't withdraw from a class if I knew I could still pass (i.e. it's not mathematically impossible). I knew I likely would not do better the next time around and I would never pay for a class again! I had a classmate who dropped a class because she was going to end up with a B. She retook the class and got a C.
