how do they compare to other non-uni owned apartmnents?

I’ve heard that they’re a really good deal for the money you pay. However, they’re ridiculously hard to get…

really?!?!?! why, though?

BUMPBUMPBUMP.
what are my chances? i heard they’re not by first come first serve basis though.

can anyone help me?

yeah they went out within the first couple hours of room signup, my roommate was lucky enough with a early signup time and got 4 of us an apartment in glenrock west… anyone currently living there or know someone living there? i got a couple questions :D

i have glenrock west right now; whats up?

uni apartments are very nice. i love how you have unlimited utilities included in your quarterly rent payments, prompt service from UA maintenance, and especially how they’re furnished with beds, drawers, sofa, tables…

wait so they’re all gone?!?! i’m a transfer student though, and i’m supposed to send in my housing app by the 1rst!!!

oh cool so jinobi, what furniture comes with the apartment? sofa tv-stand desk fridge microwave? and hows the internet and cable tv? HD channels? :D

Theres no TV, but there are beds, dining table, couches. I really like the university apartments. They are big and nice. Utilities are provided (as someone mentioned) and you don’t have to worry about subleasing it when you leave.

The internet download speed is nice. It’s about 1 meg (1000k a second) downloads. Upload is capped at about 50k when I was there. I forgot the place I lived at but it was 456 Landfair. I didn’t watch TV but I think its what you normally get when you have service by UCLA Dorms.

Time Warner Cable provides cable internet and cable TV. Internet is slower than University backbone T3, and the router they provide can be prone to problems/outages. Provided lamp stands can be reused as TV stand. Microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator provided. Cable TV has great selection, but I don’t know about HD since I don’t have a HDTV.

I live in Gayley Towers. Fully furnished, double studio, they just refurbished all the cabinets, bathroom, kitchen, etc(though they did cut corners, it looks like–in the case of my dresser, literally). It’s nice, but its between two frat houses, so it can get a tad bit noisy. All the utilities are part of the flat rate, so that’s nice. Also, its really close to campus and close enough to the hill for me to eat at dining halls with friends sometimes.

Hey I was wondering if anybody could tell me how Glenrock apartments are? I have been offered a 2 bedroom 4 people… just wondering if they’re nice?

I was also wondering if anyone could tell me how the margan apartments are. I am a transfer student and I received a one bedroom with 3 people. At least its cheap.

For the most part, university apartments will not be bad. They’re furnished, so you won’t have to worry about that, and they pay for all the utilities. It’s not a bad deal and maintenance is usually quick

hmm i was wondering when they say furnished, what are included? bed, desk, sofa?, stove? (lo, med, high or just high?) fridge? (double door or single door?)

beds, desks, sofa, full stove/oven, full fridge (two doors), dinning table with four chairs, and drawers for clothes.

That’s what it came with for me at least.
