UCLA/USC Admissions?

I'm currently a junior at a really small, highly competitive private school in Southern California. I'll be graduating class of 2012 and enrolling in college in the fall.

UW GPA: 3.7
Weighted GPA: 3.96
SAT: 2250
PSAT: 207 (National Commended Scholar... i dunno if that makes a difference)
ACT: 33
Mostly 4s and 5s on all AP exams
I took some SAT II's as well, even though they're not required
Bio: 720
Language: 730
U.S. History: 740

EC's:
- 200+ hours at a local hospital
- many hours with Greenpeace working on local campaigns over the span of two summers. I'm part of a smaller committee within the Socal office as well
- NHS 2 yrs
- Black Belt in Karate
- CSF 2 yrs
- attended the NYLF forum in medicine my freshman year at UCLA
- Science Olympiad Team (we competed at the regional level and placed high)
- Comedy Sports team 2 yrs
- worked at the front desk at a dental office 3 yrs
- Visited South Africa last summer & participated in a community service project to build an orphanage
- member of the Science Club/Social Issues Club but played a minor role 3 yrs
- ABRSM Piano level 3
- tutor at my school for other students

I know my GPA is on the lower side in comparison with UCLA's average, but my school is ranked high and is a very competitive college prep school. I was wondering if I stand a chance to receive admissions from either of these schools and if not what I should do to increase my chances of securing admission.

I’d say you have a really good chance.

thanks
any other responses
i’d really like to know what i should work on

You have a pretty good chance at both. As long as your essays will be solid and class rigor/class rank are pretty good (I assume they are) then you have as good of a chance at USC and UCLA as most people. Also UCLA considers UC gpa, have you calculated yours? One tip: make sure to make your senior schedule very rigorous because UCLA really likes to see this. I’d also advise you to visit USC and UCLA this summer since you live close. I did and it was enlightening and fun. Personally I liked the USC campus better but the UCLA sports hall of fame was pretty legit. :)

I think you have really good chances, especially since you are in state. You have good scores and Gpa. Good luck to you, I hope you get in!

chance me back please!!
