UCLA v UCSD v Berkeley Computer Science

I'm having a super hard time deciding on which one to choose right now. At Berkeley I have EECS, which is obviously a very good program, and then I have UCLA and UCSD for CSE, which are also pretty good. UCSD's computer labs are newer and such now too. I'm pretty unsure of going to Berkeley just because all my friends and cousins who went there regret the decision, but I'm still considering. My main question is the matchup between UCLA and UCSD's CSE programs now, and am curious on which is better in quality (my dad claims UCSD is actually better than UCLA as of now). Upon visiting campuses, I can certainly say I like UCLA's campus a lot more. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

And a second question, although I understand it is very difficult to answer:

Does anyone know how much more difficult it would be to maintain good grades at Berkeley compared to my other two choices? Again, I understand this question is pretty hard to answer, but I'm curious as to if I'm able to handle the pressure at Berkeley, or if in reality all three schools are nearly identical in that aspect.

just b/c ur friends and relatives regret choosing berkeley, does that mean that u will regret it also? the ultimate decision is up to u, also u should visit the berkeley campus and see for urself
berkeley's EECS is very competitive (check the berkeley forum), if u do well under competition and pressure and am really willing to work hard then u can do well in any college, whether or not u could handle EECS at berkeley depends on u
my hs physics teacher says that the material they teach in colleges is virtually the same, when ur going to a specific college ur just buying the name brand, i guess when u go to a college like UCLA, UCSD or berkeley it's the quality of students that makes the difference
well it's hard to make the choice cuz berkeley ranks top 3 in EECS, but congrats for making into the top UC's! honestly, they'r all good universities, the decision is up to u! good luck!!!

Berkeley EECS is very tough...a few of my friends in it are dying. However, a good number are doing very well. You just have to be willing to work your butt off. Between UCLA and UCSD, I've heard that UCLA is a better school for CSE, but you can't go wrong with either. Get in touch with some CSE/EECS majors and see how they're faring.

UCSD and UCLA are actually both ranked #14 (tie) on US News for their Computer Science programs:

I actually went through UCSD’s computer science program and had a great experience working with some extremely intelligent professors. Also my job opportunities coming out of the college were amazing.

Berkeley is #1, up there with Stanford, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon.

Between UCSD and UIUC, which one offers better education quality? I am PURELY talking about the quality of education, NOT location/fee/job opportunities?

Does any one have comments on this? Thanks!

bump! I am almost in the exact same situation and really need help!
@hokageisme What school did you eventually choose and are you happy with your decision?

Don’t bump long dead threads. Start a new one if there are questions you want to know or PM the original poster. It’s very unlikely he/she is paying ANY attention to an 8 year old thread.
