ok I know there are tons of "UCLA vs Berkeley" threads made in the past already, but most of them were focused too much on academic and social life aspect of it.

Here, I want to discuss about one factor only - the competition among the students. I've heard tons of horror stories about Cal's competition. People refer to it as a "cut-throat" competition and that it's one of hardest schools in the nation to get good grades due to the fact that most people had over 4.0 GPA during high school and that curves for many classes are "brutal".

I've also heard of UCLA's level of competition among students, but people say it's more "chill" and laid-back than that of Cal's. Not to be offensive to UCLA students here but I heard many people saying that while UCLA's competition is also rigorous, it's just not up to the level of Cal's.

For those of you who goes to either school, can you elaborate the difference between the competition level of Cal's students and that of UCLA's? What does Berkeley have that UCLA doesn't, or vice versa?
