Hey all, i have been accepted into both UCLA and Berkeley, and am literally torn between which one to attend. My major is Biology in UCLA and molecular and cell biology in Berkeley, and i am on the pre-med track.

I am in the same situation.

I am not a premed but I do know that UCLA offers more pre-med opportunities because we have one of the best hospitals/med schools in the nation right on campus. UCLA premeds have more opportunities to intern/whatever else premeds do at our hospital. Berkeley does not have a med school or hospital so there are less internship opportunities available.

Social scene wise — I’m biased towards UCLA Greek life here is big (though it seems like not that many people are in greek life it dominates the party scene) as are apartment parties. Students at UCLA are on average friendlier funner and more attractive than at Berkeley (sorry but it’s true :P) while still being really, really, REALLY smart.

Definitely visit both and get a feel for the campuses

Both schools are very similar:
difficult
tons of research opportunities
tons of competitive premeds
Academically, not that much different. Prestige wise, Cal > UCLA by a bit.

Social life at LA >> Cal. Two words: Berkeley Goggles. Call me superficial but after visiting friends at Cal I definitely feel the general population is more attractive here
Of course this doesn’t matter if you don’t care.

Visit both schools on a school day and see which you like better.

UCLA girls pre-med are more attractive =) especially when the weather warms up in the spring.
And even the engineers in south campus learn how to properly dress heh
Social life is definitely better - frats and sorority parties every week, dorm trips to Disneyland/Magic Mountain, Sunset Rec for all your outdoor swimming/sunbathing activities, the beach and Santa Monica pier 10 minutes away, skiing 2 hours away. Hollywood and Highland. Film shoots happening around every corner. Movie premieres with the stars in Westwood Village. Sneak preview screenings, parties, club events. Arts and culture in spades - Museum row with LACMA (a great museum), LA Natural History museum, La Brea Tar Pits, The Getty, Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl. The list goes on…

Oh, and the dorms are all coed and centralized in one location unlike Berkeley where they are mostly spread far out outside of campus.

UCLA does have a huge medical center and an excellent internship program with Santa Monica hospital as well:
