My major concern about UCLA is its size. How big do classes usually get? Do undergrads ever get to know their professors?

As for Brown, I'm concerned about whether I'd like Rhode Island enough to live there for four years. Although I can't be sure since I never visited (I'm in international), I doubt Providence could ever really compare to Los Angeles. Am I just making silly assumptions? Also, are Boston and Providence similar? I've been to the former and did not like it much.

So many people are telling me I'd be crazy to give up Brown. Is it really that better academically than UCLA?

I barely have any time left to decide, so any advice/opinions are appreciated. Thanks. :)

I got accepted at Brown too. It’s very different from LA. LA has something to offer that you can get from nowhere else. The state of Rhode Island and the town of Providence are both very dingy compared to the wealth that is in Los Angeles. There is so much to do and see. Brown pretty much has one street and that’s where all the actions at. Boston is way better than Providence. It’s small and cute and there’s food stores and a bookstore but thats pretty much it. Also, I don’t know if weather’s a big deal for you, but LA’s weather is unbeatable. The things you’d be giving up by not going to Brown are slightly better dorms, snow, and smaller classes. It’s your choice. It’s a hard choice for me as well. I don’t know how intimate I can get with professors at UCLA considering class sizes will be larger. But there’s always a way to get past that. Good Luck.
