Hi guys!
I got accepted to both Berkeley and UCLA as a sociology major! The conflict struggle is so real and I was hoping some of you guys here can give me some advice on both schools and which to lean towards! My primary goal is Pre- Law and to attend law school right out of undergrad. Therefore, the sociology departments themselves aren’t as high as a priority compared to the pre- law resources and accessibility. I heard about the GPA deflation at Berkeley and am pretty concerned that the deflation will dramatically hurt my gpa. However, at the same time, I heard that Berkeley’s prestige makes up for the low gpa? Thoughts? Anyways, I am from the Bay Area (born and bred) and have always LOVED visiting So Cal! BUT, is there a difference between visiting and living in Los Angeles? I love LA but I’ve never lived outside of the Bay so it is slightly intimidating but I am open to change! If I do end up attending Berkeley I plan on attending a law school in so cal so I do plan on spending some time down south regardless. In terms of rankings and prestige, I know CAL triumphs over UCLA but in what terms? I would love more details on the different rankings. I’ve been constantly hearing the phrase of UCLA students go to employers while employers go to CAL students… I’m not quite sure if this is legitimate but would an employer be more likely to pick a CAL grad versus a UCLA grad? Overall, it’s a pretty tough decision but I hope some of you can offer your valuable insight! Thanks (:
