UCLA vs. CMU...

Ok, I got into both UCLA and CMU for EE, and before I was pretty sure i wanted to go to UCLA, since I like the environment there better, but after my parents gave me a big spiel about jobs and my future and whatnot, I guess I should find out more about the two.

It seems like CMU is the better school for EE, but how much of a difference will going to CMU over UCLA be for getting into a top grad program or getting a great job? Besides that, please tell me anything that will help me make the best decision.

Little to none. Go to UCLA. Do well. Find research advisor early - you'll be fine for any grad program.

wowx, I'm not sure what your parents are saying, but if you aren't happy at a place then it shouldn't matter. Go to UCLA, 100%. They are like completely, completely different atmospheres, at least from what I hear. If you can see yourself being happier at UCLA, then there's definitely not a big enough difference academically to choose CMU. They both have top-notch reputations.

first, do you like cold or warm places? do you like snow storm or sunny weather? are you studious-asocial-nerd or are you party/balanced/social kinda nerd?
