which college should i go for undergrad. i'm planning to take on the pre-med track. some choices i'm having trouble is that i believe i will have a lot more fun at UCLA while still receiving a great education.
however at jhu, i believe i will be more intellectually challenged. also, jhu seems to be a great school for pre-meds according to the stats. however, the social scene seems to be more lacking compared to ucla.

so..., i want some opinions as to which school i should go to

btw, im from LA and i actually wish to stay closer to home and keep in touch with friends and family

judging by ur close family ties and willingness to have fun once in a while, i think u will fit better at UCLA. keep in mind that UCLA has some of the brightest students (some who choose to stay at public school due to financial hardships). plus, u save $$$

anyway, JHU seems to be very intense for premed b/c of the JHU rep for awesome med school. a good amt of ppl go there b/c they believe jhu will give them the best edu to prep them for med school. ALthough this might be true, i think because of the "premed factory" atmosphere ppl are VERY competative (b/c of more ppl in premed thus more competition) and aim for top med schools. remember GPA is super important from what i hear.

If a good amt of ppl there are premeds and you are one of them, think how stressful it might be. I guess some ppl also believe going to jhu will help them get into jhu for med school, but like most grad schools, they like to reach out to ppl outside of jhu to get the best of the best so this might not be very true. I also hear they weed out med school hopefuls and only select to write recs for the ones that have the best bet.

I have a neighbor who goes there and jokes about transferring out. she also says baltimore is not a college town (but i think westwood totally is suitable for ucla).

UCLA is probably more balanced (sports, great food--i hear JHU food sucks)and u wont miss out on too many opps while you are there. maybe intern/volunteer for the ucla hospital if possible?

I picked Ucla over Jhu and im gonna be premed too. i also wanted to stay close to home and Los angeles is a lot nicer than baltimore and my gpa will be higher at ucla than at jhu where it is insanely competitive. also i hear jhu wont write you recs if they dont think you are qualified to get into med school.
