I'm a transfer student with bio major for pre-med.
I got into both of UCLA and Michigan.

I don't care about money and weather.

I'm really looking for great academic classes,
many opportunities for research for coming pre-med application.
and great atmosphere for studying.

aside frm weather, money, proximity to family, the only real difference is the social atmosphere. Academically, you can't go wrong with either school as a premed (aka, it doesn't matter).

Ananas7,

You really should care about weather and money.

Have you lived in places as cold as Ann Arbor? If not, you'll be in for a shock your first winter.

As far as money goes, ask yourself how much debt you're willing to take on. $50K over the course of 10 years will cost you $70K including interest.

For biology, the scores for Michigan and UCLA are 4.3 and 4.0, respectively. Nevertheless, the academic quality for undergrads is probably very similar and UCLA edges out Michigan in terms of weather and location. As for the studying atmosphere, that depends on what type of atmosphere is appropiate for you. To be honest, because there are so many distractions here (after all, it is a big city), I sometimes find it difficult to study and focus. Perhaps you should visit both areas and determine which is most suitable for you.
