Ucla VS Northeastern VS BU

Hello, with only a couple days left to decide, I need to make my final decision. However, I need help deciding.

I’ve been accepted to Ucla, NU and BU. My dilemma is that I got accepted for Financial/Actuarial Math at Ucla, and MechE for the other two. Being out of state in Massachusetts, Ucla would cost me about 35K yearly, whereas NU and BU would cost roughly 10K yearly. I’d rather be an engineer than an actuary, but I don’t want to pass up the chance of going to such a great university as Ucla. Also, I’m not sure if I want to go to school on the opposite side of the country, or right down the road in Boston.

What are your opinions? Anything helps at this point. Thanks.

Well, it sounds like you want to be an engineer – and that may not be an option for you at UCLA. There are other negatives to UCLA as well: it’s expensive, flying home for the summer/Christmas break will add more costs, it’s having budget/financial problems and it could be difficult for you to get the classes you will need to graduate in 4 years.

So I would focus on BU or NU. Same city, different experience. How do you feel about co-op? That’s a huge reason to go to Northeastern. Does it bother you that BU doesn’t have a “real” campus? For some, that’s a big deal.

Co-op is definitely something I’m considering. It seems great for experience, job opportunities and also income (the paid co-ops don’t look too bad). I’ve stayed over at both campuses and could honestly go for both atmospheres - campus or no “campus”

I really don’t know what would be my best option.

Sounds like Northeastern holds the advantage

I’m thinking it might. Thanks!

Any other input is appreciated as well.
