Hey guys,
i got accepted to UCLA and NYU gls. few things to know about my dilemma...
1. NYU gls is a new program with 160 students or so. my classes will be small so i will reap the benefits of close contact with professors. UCLA does not offer such contact..
2. UCLA is a "better" school especially since the GLS program is brand new and i would be the inaugural class if i do decide to go to GLS. there is that risk of deciding to attend, and ending up in a terrible program (though it sounds amazing according to the website).
3.I plan on going into law school and NYU has a superior program to UCLA's (i'm not even sure if UCLA has a reputable law school while NYU's is ranked 5th!) and i want to be able to build close relationships with professors(since class sizes are small) so that i can have a leg up in applying to nyu law later.
4.MONEY. UCLA is no doubt, much cheaper than living in nyc attending NYU.
5. i love NYC and all my friends are going to college on the east coast, i've never been to LA and no one is going there.

considering the pros and cons of both schools, i'm having a really hard time deciding between the two...i'm still waiting for columbia but i doubt i will get in... though that would solve all my problems lol. some heartfelt suggestions/words of advice would really help!

I’m actually in the same situation, between UCLA and NYU. I’m also waiting to hear from Columbia (for the second time as I was deferred under ED). If it comes down to just UCLA and NYU, I’ll probably choose NYU (or BC, got in today!) becuase my parents want me to go there, as cost isn’t an issue since UCLA is almost as expensive out of state. But, I know the Ivy Leagues have the best financial aid packages…so you may get some help there. And, the best part about NYU is obviously its location in NYC and the opportunities it has to offer, such as internships etc. I actually already have a very competitive internship lined up with CBS news which will be factored into my decision
GOOD LUCK, I’ll need some too when deciding!

Global liberal studies is intended for students who want a international focus on their career. If you want to be a judge sitting at International Court, then yes. If you simply just want to be a lawyer in the US, then it’s probably not for you. If you simply like traveling, then you probably better of traveling as a tourist.

I do not know anyone is GLS but I do know those who have study aboard at NYU sites that GLS students can go. I can say it was a positive response overall.

Living in NYC is pretty expensive but mostly due to the fact most students overspend and inflation is high. NYU does provide discounted tickets and other places to go to. Most of the expensive prices are in Manhattan. Flushing, Queens and Brooklyn are a lot cheaper places to go to.

UCLA I believe is ranked 16th for law school.
