UCLA vs UC Berkeley: BS in Computer Science

I know that Cal tends to have a better reputation for computer science than UCLA, but I hear that it is alot harder than UCLA. I live about 3 hours from Cal and about 10 hours from UCLA, so this gives UCLA an advantage in my book. Are the two schools ranked far enough apart to matter in job searches? I would really like to work for Apple, Google or Microsoft, which of the two would be better for companies like this. From what I've read I'm fairly confident that I'd be happier at UCLA, it's not as cut throat and more laid back. Also, I'd be a Regent's Scholar at UCLA. I haven't been accepted to Cal yet, but I'm fairly confident that I will be: 4.3 cumulative GPA, 34 ACT, 2110 SAT, 770 Math II SAT and hundreds of hours of work and community service. Part of me hopes that I don't get into Cal so that the decision is really easy, but the other part of me wants to go the best school that I get into. Any advice or input is welcome.

From a recruiting standpoint, UCLA is high profile enough that companies that do out of area recruiting will likely include it in the list of career centers to visit.

However, small startups may not have the time or budget to do out of area recruiting. For those in “Silicon Valley”, this may mean going to just local schools like UC Berkeley, Stanford, San Jose State, UCSC if they look for new graduates.

Note: UC Berkeley grants Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Computer Science. Both have considerable freedom in selecting Computer Science courses within the major.

I plann on getting a BS. I applied to Stanford, but I’m not holding my breath. I just got rejected from MIT and I hear it is easier to get into than Stanford. I also applied to Carnegie Mellon, UCSD, and UCSB. If I get into Stanford I will definitely go there.
