UCLA vs UC BERKELEY

okay.. so... considering that i get accepted to both, which one is better??
im a sociology major so would a B.A in soc from UCLA look better or BERKELEY??I know that UCLA has a better campus life and all but would it be better for me to attend UC BERKELEY if i was planning on stopping with a B.A?? since BERKELEY is considered a little more prestigious than LA?? or does it not really make that much difference?? any thoughts??

are you a freshman? this is a transfer forum.

A lot of blatant assumptions in the original post. Who told you that UCLA has a better campus life? In what context?

The bottom line is that if you do get accepted to both, you should view course offerings at both schools, housing, financial aid, and IMO the most important is to just visit both campuses to get a feel of the vibe of each school. From there you will most likely know where you belong.

As for your other question, if you’re planning on stopping with a BA it doesn’t matter (nor would it if you were to continue with school after your BA). All things like GPA being equal, your test scores would probably matter most (GRE, etc.)

“UCLA has a better campus life and all”

BOLD statement.

*deleted

Yes I am a transfer student… and what I mean by “a better campus life” im talking about the city. I hear a lot of people saying berkelely has a lot of homeless people and its dirtier compared to westwood…

Just wondering… which school is considered more prestigious (overall as a school)?? I thought UCLA and BERKELEY were pretty much hand in hand when it comes to recognition of the school… just want to hear your guy’s opinion…

they’re about the same, but berkeley is widely considered ‘the best public school in the US’.

when you’re talking about the city, you should remember that westwood is just one little neighborhood in an otherwise BIG city, filled with shootings, homeless people and dirt. lots and lots of dirt.

berkeley is GREEN.

I didn’t know Berkeley was green. It was grey when I visited…but then again that was only one day!

Yes, Berkeley has more prestige over all.

haha Berkeley is green has a different context than the actual color missyujin.

how were you accepted to both and you’re a transfer? did you get accepted last year or what?

yeah, sweet is right, but i also meant it in the literal sense. berkeley IS pretty green… trees all over, mountains nearby, gets a fair amount of range to keep the color… eh, maybe i’m just jaded having lived in LA for so long.
jin, aside from the color, it’s a really liberal community and the peoples’ efforts to live sustainably are great enough to be felt… unlike this pseudo-change-the-world-by-buying-prius’s-and-eating-vegan-because-it’s-trendy attitude we’ve got here, in southern california.

:)

I think the OP is saying “IF” he/she was accepted to both.

I didn’t get accepted yet… I said “considering I get into both” … lol
I guess 2 or so more weeks until we get to know our faith! I live near LA but I’ve been considering Berkeley lately…

not to mention they are known for smoking a lot of GREEN too

BTW, I did apply to Berkeley and am dying to go there.

hahaha, werd.

YOU, sir or miss or madame, WIN. ;)

Do you think BERKELEY classes are harder than UCLA?? I mean… there are a lot of nerds in BERKELEY~ It scares me…

haha its miss :-p

“Do you think BERKELEY classes are harder than UCLA?? I mean… there are a lot of nerds in BERKELEY~ It scares me…”

this shouldn’t be dignified with an answer.

and Mr. Sweetnezz, i was trying to be subtle… :)

haha Mr. come onnnnnnn
