So I've been accepted to both UCLA and UC Davis. I plan on pursuing the pre-med route and eventually going to medical school. I'm completely torn between the two schools. UCD is only an hour away from home, has that college town feel, and is going to be less cutthroat than UCLA. I've visited the campus a few times and although I would love to live in socal, I'd be content at Davis. UCLA on the other hand is 7-8 hours away but it has the prestige factor. I'm trying to look past that but it also has great opportunities for research and volunteering with a hospital on campus. And of course, it's in LA! Basically, I'm looking for ANY input or opinions about taking the pre-med route at UCLA vs UC Davis. What are the pros and cons for both of them? Is UCLA really THAT more competitive than UC Davis? I honestly feel like there's going to be a great amount of pre-med students anywhere I go! I was also accepted to UC Berkeley but it's come down to UCLA and UCD for me. Also, is it true that your undergraduate schools doesn't matter at all when applying to med school?! I mean, would a student applying for med school from UC Davis be seen as equivalent to a UCLA student? Any UCLA or UCD pre-med students out there that have any input on my situation? Thank you so much in advance!

Anybody?! Haha anything helps!

Doesn’t matter where you go for pre-med, honestly. Just go for UCD since there is less competition…

med student here (god, why do i still come here)

doesnt matter where you go. ucd may have less competition, but you still gotta work hard whereever you go. opportunities are what you make of them.

personally, i would go with whatever makes me happiest living there. i’d rather explore LA for four years than davis/sacramento.

UCLA, better in the long run.

plus, you’re one of the 16,000/91,000 accepted. take pride in that
