i know that berkeley is the #1 public university in the U.S. but how strong is their bio program? i’ve heard that for bio, ucla would be a better choice because the easier access to interships at hospitals and first-hand experience as a med student but the idea of going to the #1 public university sounds as if it would have a greater appeal for grad school. btw, i’m accepted in to ucb for spring quarter which just sucks butt, but i’m still happy i got in. but wait 3 months for berkeley or just go to la??

ucsd is actually better for bio, are you considering ucsd too?

have you visited ucla and cal, how do you like the atmosphere?

i did consider ucsd, but the atmosphere is too laid back for me. i've gone to cal a bizillion times and hate the school and the neighborhood, but the whole prestige of being #1 is soo damn appealing >.< i've never actually gone to ucla but i heard all about it, but i will be going to see the campus for myself. i have friends who go to ucla and cal for bio and both say that they're having such a great time at their school, but the only big thing that is keeping me from attending cal, is the fact that there is no hospital in the proximity. i'd really like to intern at a hospital and having to drive to sf seems like a hassle and ucla has a medical center on campus. what sucks even more is that i have to decide whether it's cal or la by the 8th so that i can get into cal's fall extension program.

i have the same problem....i got accepted to both ucla and uc berkeley bio program...right now....im thinking ucla

la has a medical school and the overall environment is better, la is a much cooler city, and who cares about ranking...shouldnt matter as long as you like the school
