UCLA vs UCSB for Environmental Science

i was admitted into both ucla and ucsb for a major in environmental science. the internet provides inconsistent evidence as to which is overall the best school for my major. i was pretty set on ucla until i visited an aquarium in san diego and was intrigued by the ocean. i found that the ocean would be an appropriate location for studying the environment at santa bárbara. ucla obviously is located in an urban city , but i have read into a few programs they have where they travel to nearby beaches, other nature locations, and sometimes even other UCs. the areas of ES im most interested in are wildlife, sustainability, and energy conservation. both are beautiful, amazing campuses and provide me with sufficient financial aid. i know many people say ucla is just for the title. i cant help but feel like that’s one of the reasons i want to go there, but i’m sure they offer great programs just as ucsb does. i have until may 1 to decide, so any help would be appreciated

^^and climate change

Congrats - both are great!

Visit both campuses, talk to some existing students and choose the one YOU think is the right fit for you.

if that doesn’t work, a coin toss will get you a good result.

Good luck.

UCLA has a very established and well funded Institute of Environmental Studies. They are one of the only schools that has a major in climate science (in Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences (AOS).

Have you looked at the undergraduate ES program at UCLA vs the ES program at UCSB? Both schools offer an emphasis in climate science. In my opinion (and I’m a stranger on the internet), UCLA’s program is a stronger, more developed program. Take a look at the senior practicum.
