<p>One of my good friends will likely be admitted to both schools as an Environmental Science/Studies major. I would like a comparison of the two schools and the two programs (campus, social scene, research opportunities, reputation of programs - obviously UCLA has a better overall reputation).</p>
<p>yeah UCSB's campus is very nice. Several buildings are facing the beach, but those are not classrooms or dorms. SB has more of a modern and non-college feel while LA has the classic college feel with its brick buildings. SB is huge and LA is more confined. </p>
<p>as for demographics, SB seems to be mostly white. When I went for the honors program and scholarship orientation thing, I was only of the maybe 10 Asians out of 200 people. SB gives me of a USC feel in terms of demographics.</p>
