UCLA vs. UCSB

I know it sounds like a no-brainer, but I feel that I will fit in better at UCSB. I also feel that UCSB is a more personal campus where I can really get to know the teachers and not just be another number. Please reply with good and bad things about both school's so I can make a decision. Thanks

Go to the school you like. Other than a major like bizecon at UCLA, SB will probably give you as good an education.

I don't think that the academic differences are great enough to justify choosing UCLA when you have such a strong feeling that UCSB is the one for you. If you were having that feeling about Cal State Chico vs. UCLA, I might urge you to reconsider, but UCSB is not exactly second rate!

the list of good and bad things about each school could fill books! More important is what matters to you. So people could post away for days and not hit the areas YOU are about.

You're much better off going to a school with a slightly lesser reputation that you'll love and involve yourself in than enrolling at the more prestigious school that isn't a good fit. You'll learn more, enjoy your college years more. In the end when grad schools and recruiters are looking at your resume they don't just look at the name of the school (although they don't ignore it either!) but they look at your grades, your recs, what you did with the years you spent in college.

based on your comment, cmabrie05, it seems like ucsb would be the perfect fit for you, dont conform to the pressure of attending a better school just because us news ranks it better than sb.

They are both good schools. If you want to go to UCSB, don't let other people pressure you not to! Also, you cannot beat the location of UCSB.

As a die-hard Bruin, a little part of me wants to say, "UCLA is the best! Wooo!" But logic must prevail, and as a fellow student, I am not only obligated, but happy to say that you should go to the school that fits you best. I know some brilliant people at UCSB, so you won't be in poor company.

UCSB is a top-tier school with cutting edge research and top departments. In the end however, it's the feeling of belonging that will make you happy.

I'm sorry to see you choose UCSB over my beloved school, but you need to do what's right for you.
