I was wondering if anyone would like to give their opinion or any advice.

UCLA Pro.
-Presitge
-Great Poli Sci WITH concentrations
Con
-Wants me to pass all my 6 classes in spring semester with a B

Does yer Undergrad really matter? I mean I can always come back and get my masters from their. After college I owe 4 years to the army for paying my tuition.

UCSB Pro.
-Better ROTC program.
-Beautiful Campus
-Perfect distance away from home.
-Laid back (but I don't want it to the point where classes feel like a waste of time)
Con

-Bro culture and douchbaggy ness (could be a pro cause I'm very social but didn't have the time in CC)

Another question, I'm taking Calc 1 for fun but I have a high D now. Should I drop it or try to get a better grade. Is the risk of my offer being taken away too high?

I need to decide in the next couple of days because ROTC scholarship deadline is on Friday for me.

UCLA… I dont respect anything that comes out of SB… my cousin graduated summa cum laude from SB and I still would never go there. She says it’s great school, I think its a good one, not great. The statistic I heard a few years ago about 1 in 3 kids having a STD turns my stomach. Just a thought.

Also, many kids would kill for the chance to go to LA that got into SB… Don’t turn it down for a school in a different league.

Good luck in your decision, I hope you never regret the one you take weather it be SB or LA. Follow your heart and everything else will fall into place.

according to the university of california’s own website, UCSB is ranked 12 in public universities and 44 in all universities (tried with Irvine and Davis for the number four spot)

UCLA is a very difficult school and it will expect a lot from you. If you go there you’ll be dealing with some of the smartest and most academically focused people you’ve ever met. There are more pros and cons than you mentioned though:

idk what you’re living situation currently is, but LA is a REALLY expensive city, no matter where you live. And the nicer areas like westwood are EVEN MORE expensive. So if you plan to move into an apartment or something (i’m not sure if you live here or not) prepare to shell out a lot of money. That being said though, los angeles is also a very fun and happening city. No matter how obscure or odd your interests may seem, there’s no doubt in my mind that there is an active group of people who engage in whatever your interests will be, and you shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding them.

Most people kill to get a chance to get into UCLA. over 90% of freshman applicants have a GPA above 3.75, and even with high GPAs most still don’t get in. If you can handle the workload, then go there. you will be well perpared for the rest of the world after you graduate. If not the other UCs are still UCs and have prestige. Just make sure your undergrad program is good for whatever you want to do (since you’re going into ROTC, i presume you’re doing something with the government/army?)

i’ve never been to santa barbara so i can’t talk about it, but i’ve heard it’s beautiful, even if the school has a ‘party school reputation.’ Good luck with whatever your decision is : )
