hmmm yea how's the physiological sciences major compared to SD's premed major?? Which one is better with bio in general? I'm really stuck between which two schools to go to cuz both of them are great and i really want to go to SOCAL. Help plz Thank u!

for biology i'd go with UCSD.

How about biochemistry? UCLA/UCSD/USC/HMC? (I'll throw in some more, since no one is answering my other thread.)

You'll get a higher GPA at UCSD, that's for sure.

im also concerned about where to do premed. I heard from my friend (who transferred from SD to LA after his first year) that its actually LESS competitive at LA because the percentage of premeds is less at LA. I also heard that ppl at SD study ALL day and are solely focused on grades.

jiao, this is my problem exactly. i am going to be a CMD biology major, and i believe that the UCSD program is far superior. however, i am wondering how much of a difference the undergrad program is, because even though UCLA isn't a top ranked bio school, it is still very well respected. my impression of both schools is that the campus life is better at UCLA, and that is a big factor in my decision.

"I also heard that ppl at SD study ALL day and are solely focused on grades."

that's the impression i got when i visited.

hmmm alin88 i really love ucla's campus but i love the premed major at SD so wishful thinking if the best of two worlds could be made into another UC... i don't want to be stuck at a study skool and want to have fun too yet i want to study hard and be prepared better for med school in the future. i think i'm gonna decided wen i visit both on their admit days and see which atmosphere suits me better.

That's funny ETS because a friend in my current biochem class who transferred here from UCSD told me that even though people at SD were more seclusive and seemed as if they studied all the time, LA was still a lot more competitive.

o...well i guess this just proves that everyone is different and to go where you will be suited best.

I'm in the exact same situation as you guys..........:(

UCLA has a better reputation and will help when applying to med school...(for those pre-meds out there)

Is it easier to get into LA and SD on biochem/premed major than engineering?

"UCLA has a better reputation and will help when applying to med school...(for those pre-meds out there)"

If Sakky was here, he'd say otherwise.

I think sakky might actually agree with me.
