Hey!
So I've been accepted to UCLA, UCSD, Cal Poly SLO, and UW-Madison. I'm trying to narrow down my options, and UCLA and UCSD are the favorites so far. Only problem- I live in Minnesota. It is SO expensive for out of staters! I used to live in california and have always wanted to come back. which school do you guys recommend for someone like me? i'm undecided on a major, but am thinking about neuroscience or cognitive science with a possible english or design minor..
any advice would be so appreciated! thank you!!

Visit if you can. You should be able to visit both on the same trip.

i visited all 4 campuses last summer and loved them all. UCLA campus was amazinggg but san diego is beautiful too. im just having trouble deciding between those two…

UCLA- UCLA is way more prestigious and beautiful. I’m actually going to UCSD but if i had the chance like you, UCLA would definitely be it. UCLA is a big deal here in california

Very different social scenes.

Do a search on CC regarding UCSD social scene – it is a beautiful campus in a gorgeous area, but some people feel the social scene on campus is lacking.

I know someone that didn’t want to go to UCSD because they thought the campus felt dead. They ended up visiting again and will go there.

If you preferred UCLA’s campus, I think you should probably choose it. Unless you’re sure you want to study biology (at UCSD), UCLA’s a safe bet.

rightt now im leaning toward ucla…
would i stand out as an out of state student at ucla? ive always been able to make friends easily and i dont think where i’m coming from would affect that…am i being naive?

I don’t know, but there are more non-Californians at UCLA than at UCSD. When I visited UCSD, a student there said they thought almost everyone was from LA, San Diego or the Bay Area.
