UCLA vs. UIUC-Computer Science (College of Engineering)

I'm an international applicant and I've got into both of them but I am having a hard time deciding which one I should join.
UCLA is in LA, which is really cool, but UIUC (I've heard) is really good for computer engineering.
I have read good and bad things about both so I was hoping for some first hand opinions. Cost is not a decisive issue for me.
Factors into consideration:
1.) Internship
2.) Quality of education
3.) Living experience (including learning experience)

Nothing can beat Cali

UCLA is a better school overall than UIUC. For computer science UIUC is ahead but UCLA isn’t that behind either. Can you afford the UCLA out of state tuition ? Its significantly expensive than UIUC…There will be a approx 10k difference between those two.

bump10char

They are both academically very strong, no significant difference (For CS). Choose based on other factors, I guess.

You will have to use other non-academic attributes to decide between those two schools. The CS is basically dead even.

I heard UIUC is better than UCLA for Computer Science. Where do you think I should attend?

HELP!!!

What about the different internship opportunities between these schools???

They would be about the same.

Help!!!

LA = no snow / Hollywood, Downtown LA nightlife/ Beach. Everything else is pretty much equal

UCLA

Many told me that the network at UCLA is better that UIUC. So, students from both schools will get heavily recruited by major companies right???

yes. I thought that was the general consensus. Schools have the same opportunities. Pick on lifestyle and get a good g.p.a.

But UIUC is better in terms of academics right? More in-depth programming will be taught there???

Are you even reading what everyone is saying?

UIUC would be a better option if I want to pursue a doctorate right? That seems to be the consensus among many whom I have asked.

Choose UCLA because its in California.

bump10char

But US News ranks UCLA engineering so lowly. Why?

It doesn’t matter once you said computer science. Both schools are excellent in CS.

I would have LOVED to have qualified for either school’s graduate program…mainly because it would have been easier to do a combined Math/CS program within the same 10 or 11 courses. (personal reason)

but, UCLA is better at Math right?
