UCLA vs UOP

Hello everyone! I got accepted into UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and University of the Pacific. I think I’ve narrowed my choices between UOP and UCLA. For UOP, I got admitted into their 6 year dental program. For UCLA and the rest of the UCs, I got in as a bio major. Honestly it’s a toss up for me at this point.

If I go to UOP then I will almost be guaranteed admission into the graduate dental program if I keep up my grades and pass the DAT and interviews. My life would pretty much be set for me. I would have to pay about 16k per year for my undergrad years.

However, if I go to UCLA I don’t really have a plan, except probably going pre-med. I know the competition would me much tougher here than at UOP, but I think I would be able to handle it. I’m not sure if I would like the massive class sizes though. I would have to pay about 8k per year here.

I like the full college experience that UCLA offers, the prestige that comes along with it, and the geographical location. UOP supposedly has a very nice campus, but there’s not much to do around there. Also, it’s in Stockton, which is kind of scary. However, the small class sizes would make me feel more comfortable I think because it would be closer to a community college size. I like the idea of a close knit staff and student community but I don’t know if I would get sick of that atmosphere after a while.

So if you could help me by describing

  1. the campus life/atmosphere/opportunities
  2. the programs (in general)/teachers
  3. the classes (difficulty, variety, etc)
I would appreciate it greatly! Thanks!
