UCLA vs USC(Marshall) Undergrad

Hello, I'm currently a community college student and I'm about to transfer. I got into UCLA as a Business-Economics major. I'm still waiting for USC(Marshall School of Bus.) decision this month. Unfortunately, I did not get in Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

What bugs me is that UCLA doesn't offer an undergraduate business program. In terms of recruitment, would this be a disadvantage for a Business major?

What kind of job do you want?

I’m aiming for consulting and/or finance(FA,I-B, etc). I know for accounting USC would be the best choice, but it’s not what I want to do.

anybody here?

I think you have a better shot at getting into finance/consulting from Marshall because 1) it is actually a business school and 2) it has a fantastic alumni network in LA

I am sort of in the same boat as you I got into Math/applied science and I wanted to concentrate in management and I am waiting for USC. I think I am leaning towards USC because its a legitimate business degree, but the COST? Go to whatever school fits you best and visit both before making the decision.

Yeah I plan on visiting both schools soon. At this point I really like LA a lot more, but then again USC does have a legitimate B-School.

I agree it sucks that UCLA doesn’t have a business major, however my friend doing business economics recently landed a job at Yahoo’s finance division, so it may not be all that bad. If you live in California, factor in the fact that USC is 40K per year and UCLA is 9K. The only thing that will prevent you from landing a job is not doing an internship the summer of your junior year.
