UCLA vs. USC

Well then I hate fucla cuz I didnt get in.

really? good, i'm not alone.

Lulz. I hope you get over that someday.

That'd be a sad way to live.

If I was still sad over things that happened when I was 17 (as opposed to my extremely wise and aged 20), I'd be so emo and miserable.

Besides, UCLA is better than Cal. So no loss, or anything.

:)

I was over it 5 minutes after I read the rejection letter. Besides, who would want to live in LA?

Not I, but I do. Because sometimes we have to do things we don't like to get where we want to be.

/as a sidenote, I've decided that living in LA (post-college) wouldn't be so bad if one A- had lots of money, and B- had a wide and active social circle. Neither of which I currently have. But someday. At least until I can land a job in my field for comparable pay where I want to be.

"Not I, but I do. Because sometimes we have to do things we don't like to get where we want to be."

I see.......sort of like takin out the garbage.

It's just...I was so prepared to go to cal... I was SO sure that I'd get into cal (i got their additional information email after november...i thought they were seriously interested in me)...and then that day when I got the rejection letter...it was terrible. I just DIED.

I live about an hour away from Berkeley, I wanted to stay near my folks. I wanted to stay in the bay area as well...(without having to go to davis). So basically, it came down to davis and ucla. There was no f-ing way I was going to a smalltown university whewre like 23850285 of my classmates were going, so I chose ucla. Yeah, I guess I should just suck it up and forget about it...ucla's great as well, I just had my heart set on berkeley.

Somewhat. Except that taking trash out is a chore and going to school in LA is a means to a (hopefully) very successful and exciting end.

But yknow. Exactly the same thing.

Hey liveforindie - I live an hour away from Cal too, where do u live?

liveforindie- Methinks that once you start school and build a life here you won't be so upset about the Cal thing. I totally get the disappointment (I would've been devastated if I hadn't gotten into UCLA, my first choice), but there's no point in mourning what will not be.

And worst case scenario, you hate it here and do a junior transfer. Problem solved.

Shall be ok.

People always push the fact that UCLA is Cal's satellite school here, so whatever. I'm just ****ed at people who get into Berkeley and UCLA, and choose UCLA for stupid reasons ("OH MY GOD bums scare me, AH AH I didn't see anyone at the Jewish studies table, so their Jewish studies department must be terrible!"). SHUT THE FOCK UP, good Lord people like that make me feel like a hardcore dude for choosing Cal, when I was in fact a UCLA reject.

i hate you all. how about that.

tripperian35: I live in tracy. Not the most exciting city in California...damn boring, actually.

allie: Thanks...yeah...I just have to adjust to L.A. Actually, I've only been to LA once...and that was for welcome day at ucla...

liveforindie - have u heard of Santa Rosa?

Haha yeah I love that satellite school argument. It's like, kids, that was EIGHTY SEVEN YEARS AGO. We may have established our own reputation in the interim. Possibly.

Cal winning the Pac 10? Have you looked at USC's recruiting classes the past 5 years? You've got to be kidding me. Cal is lucky to be mentioned in the same breath as USC.

They lose key players and reload with blue-chip prospects who have been starting on 112 other teams around the league. My god, Matt Cassel was drafted by the Patroits, ahead of hundreds of QBs, and he never started a single game in his career, compared to 4 year starters on other teams. There isn't going to be a drop off. They reload, not rebuild.

And have you looked at their schedule/the rest of the Pac 10? It's a joke.

UCLA doesn't stand any sort of a chance. Their talent isn't close. Cal has to go to the Coliseum, that's not happening. They got lucky a few years ago and it's not going to happen.

tripperian35: Sounds vaguely familiar. Kind of up north?

Ya about an hour north of SF.

Chill out A2Wolves, I dont know where u get ur info, but USC lost 2 Heisman winners, and another tailback that would have started on any other team in the country. They have the best receiving corps, I'll give u that, and their O-line is solid. On defense, they're talented but young, as u witnessed in the NC game.

Im sure u havent even watched a Cal game, so u have no right to judge Cal and how they'll do this year, which is to contend for the PAC-10 crown, if not win.

hahahah you think UCLA was a satellite school? UCR was a freaking citures experiment station!

citures........
