Private investment is increasing, but most of fundamental researches are still supported by state money. There are many collaboration going on between American universities and China's research institutes. Some researchers even said China may top America some time in the future, since scientific research is becoming more and more labor-oriented. I don't believe there will be that day, but if China government starts to protect IP 100 times more strictly than they are now, there is that possibility.

WOOT~! I just checked my email and I got a University scholarship from USC. It's for $4000 and it's renewable each year as long as I "make normal academic progress toward your undergraduate degree during each academic year (not including summer) and maintain a minimum cumulative USC grade point average of 3.0."

Ok, so now costs definitely shouldn't be a problem b/c they differed only by about $4000-$5000 anyways. But... ummmmmmmmmmmmm... how do I edit my first post?

bump

I need a little more feedback plz. Most likely I'll be going to USC tho... Last chance to dissuade me, UCLA people.

Psssst I like USC better...:)

If they're throwing money at you and making you feel welcome, it makes it easier to become a condom.

LOL. I never thought about it that way. I've always supported safe sex, but now I'm becoming... a condom... xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Ok, I've already sent in my commitment deposit, so this thread is over and done with. :)

Fight on dodobird08! You are going to love USC, and the FSH program is a great one!!

Fight On! :)

Yay! I'm in the FSH program too, I'll probably meet you this fall =]

I'll put my vote in for USC and for the TMB darnit! I was a member of the Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe, so I might not be the most objective person.

For those who complain about Tribute to Troy, my answer, play better ;) USC's band does play other songs, like Fight On and Conquest, they just play them more when the team is doing better.

As for the topic, I think USC's biology department is great. It is less cutthroat, and you're looking at smaller classes. USC is also making inroads in Asia, as there is a USC office in Jakarta and Hong Kong. That being said, both 'SC and UCLA are great schools, so you can't go wrong.... unless you pick UCLA...kidding.

If you reject filet mignon, does it really matter if you opt for McDonald's or Burger King? ;-)
