I got in both, pre-med bio major !! any advice ???..

I'm still leaning towards UCLA tho... but I will see how much USC offers me.. 90% it will cost more than UCLA ... :(

besides the fact that usc will cost more, ucla is far more prestigious.

none of the above for pre-med :)

ucla has a better medical program

I’m also being tormented by this. I’m a Business major btw. UCLA Bus Econ or USC Marshall School of Business. sigh*…

UCLA is in Westwood, USC is in the hood.

University of South Carolina? Is it any good? Just kidding!!! I like both schools. I would base my decision on how much money each school will cost after graduating. Good Luck! =)

usc is a great school, but the cost difference isnt worth not going to ucla for unless usc gives you great financial aid

depending on who you ask, USC being in the “hood” is more authentic to westwood ACTING line they’re in the hood. yes i’m under the influence right now, but all the booty/dance jams are hood songs.

^ha.

To the OP:
Congrats on getting into these two great schools. I’d say that for pre-med, go wherever is cheaper because you still have about 5 more years of tuition to worry about.

But, if money is not an issue, I’d say USC because you need to protect your GPA, and UCLA just sounds like such a vicious place for pre-med students- with 600-person classes and deadly curves against super competitive students.

well, I wouldn’t worry about competition as much as money; you’ll be surprised at how much aid the private universities give out.

and for the person with the business major deciding between UCLA and USC… go with USC.

yea… the competition is what I’m more concerned actually… but does anybody know if USC is that much less competitive than UCLA ???

USCs classes have wayyyy less people, you would be able to have more one on one time with your professors, i think if money isnt an issue, USC is definately the better undergrad.

If you can afford it: USC all the way.

The trojan family is a much better network to be a part of.

I was just at USC’s graduation yesterday. It was sad to see so many future homeless. The Alumni Network was very good at providing bread and blankets for the class of 2009 though.

Jokes and rivalries aside, both are good schools are marginally different in terms of quality. Nobody has any fact or hard evidence to prove otherwise, so it is really just up to personal preference. I stress that you really need to just spend a couple of days at each school, and it will become obvious where you like it better.

UCLA is larger and that is not good for everyone, USC will baby you a lot more and the gpa protection is a big issue for someone going to med school. I think UCLA is also more competative.

I went to UCLA though, and i can just account for the fact that many people i knew at USC partied more, did less, and had the same grades almost as me at UCLA.

UCLA will teach you how to be a better go getter.

True. You will need to make much more of an effort to become involved in undergrad research at UCLA. Many pre-med students pursue this to augment their med school application.

ok then… thanks for all the info… I will wait to see how much FA that USC has to offer me… sucks that I only have to June 1st to decide for both :(
