Hey guys! I'm a bit confused about a decision I'm faced with. Currently, I'm a freshman at UCLA as a pre-med. I've visited the UT Austin campus and I really like it there. Besides, I'm getting about 30 credits for my A levels at UT Austin, so I'll be entering as a junior. UT is gonna save me a year from the already-so-lengthy field of medicine. UT is also gonna cost me $35,000 less every year as I'm a Texas resident. Any advice on whether I should transfer?

Given how expensive medical school is, it makes more sense to transfer to UT Austin (or other Texas public university) if you can, so that you can apply the substantial amount of money saved to medical school.

If you are an international student, you should aware most of the med schools in usa do not accept internationals and you need full pay to study there.

I’m a US citizen, and I intend to pay full regardless. I don’t want to be tied down by the loans once I graduate. Will my chances of getting into a good medical school be affected if I transfer?

Assuming that you apply to Texas medical schools, since you are a Texas resident, travel logistics for medical school interviewing will be easier if you are enrolled in a Texas undergraduate school.
