UCLA vs. UVA

i'm hoping to become a dentist, so i guess i won't be pre-med...but i will major in a science and maybe in psychology too. which school is better?? ucla has many many students (24000) compared to UVa's 14000. does this mean that uva students get more attention? it's better that way right?? but then again, uva is not as diverse. their population is 50%+ white.

money can become a problem for me..maybe. i'm instate for california, so that means i might have to pay 25k+ for virginia. my fafsa EFC is 0 though..and i'm in a single parent family. how much aid do you think they will give me??? i have yet to send in the financial aid app for UVA. but UCLA is giving me 6.5k in loans.

so, my question is: which one should i accept on MAY 1st?!!??!! AHHH THE STRESS!!!

i'm also appealing to berkeley btw. my situation is very complicated. uc davis considered me as out of state, but Ucla considered me as in state. i dunno if berkeley rejected me bc they thought i was OOS. but in my appeal, i can state that I got accepted into UVA as an OOS right. and also on my UCLA page, they said they didn't receive my high school transcript. ahh, this is making me cry..:'(

both are highly ranked, large, public institutions. If you are tight on money (or could become tight on money) then I would highly recommend you stay instate (aka UCLA).

Why would UCB/UCD think you're out-of-state? Also, why are you considering UVa out-of-state if you can barely afford the in-state tuition at UCLA? It's not like UVa is any better for pre-dental anyways.

What the hell... what's up with the IS OOS madness?

Hurry up and send in your FinAid crap to UVa. After that compare costs. Then you can look at PROs and CONs and see which is the better value financially and academically. If you can't do that, talk to the UVa financial aid office and ask them about estimating your FinAid package and tell them about May 1st deadline.

25K extra for UVa is probably a mass of loans. Just call their financial aid office so you can have some reassurance.

ya, you ask why i consider UVa if i'm instate for cali. it's because i go to school in virginia (weird huh?) i'm currently a virginia high schooler, but my dad lives in california, so he pays california tax. also, i really like UVa and i spent my 4 years of high school in a little suburb. i'm not sure if i would "fit in" if i went to ucla. i guess that's one of the things that i would have to try out.

it's so hard. i applied to a ton of scholarships. i really don't know anymore. it's so confusing, and my head hurts.

graysuh,

If you like UVA, go to UVA.

so you're... instate... for two states?
hella weird

nope, virginia said i was OOS lol. so i have to pay oos tuition. but the ucdavis financial aid package was around 43k for cost of tuition (which is WAYYY too much for instate).

i need to clear things up with the finaid office. -_-

yah i'll say xD
hmm, here, if you graduate from a CA high school, you're instate. it's not the same for VA?
and davis... $43k...
ew >.<
