@statsonwait Hi! You likely talked to a student rep at the undergrad office. The person was mostly right except there’s a few mistakes in the info. So yes, ucla’s Yield this year was much higher than in years past. Students waitlisted for a professional school such as engineering will be admitted off the waitlist based on space in the major because the professional schools admit by major. If you are waitlisted for L&S you are technically not in a major. You must apply into that major once you are a student. So admissions as a freshman for that is based off of room in L&S not the intended major such as English, biz Econ, or math. So if you’re waitlisted for English you’re really just waitlisted for L&S. Your chances are the same. This is only true for freshman applicants. Transfer admissions is a whole different ball game as some L&S majors are direct admit for transfers. Hope this clears things up and saves you time from calling Murphy hall. The hold times can be seriously long. Best of luck!

Based on what you heard from admission, is ucla not going to accept many transfer students(as a junior) also? Or, was that only applied to freshman applicant? (I know this one focuses on freshman thread but wondering).
@Sssgh33 UCLA doesn’t quote specific numbers and the transfer SIR deadline has not happened yet so the yield isn’t known yet. But going off of previous years very few students will get off the waitlist for transfers. Good luck!

They said to accept/decline their offer by may 11, so I’m guessing they’ll release the next wave a few days to a week after that.
