There’s no need to give up hope just now. Having a back-up plan is more than ok, but despair isn’t really what we need in a college admissions forum.
I was accepted to UCD and UCSD. I was wait listed at UCB and UCLA. I opted onto the wait lists for both because I wanted to keep my options open. I was accepted off the wait lists for both.
Originally I thought Berkeley was my dream school because I attended a college prep summer camp there. But after much consideration, I’ve decided to stay with UCSD, which I already gave my SIR to. The main reason is after touring the campus, I could really see myself there. But also because they wanted me outright and not as an afterthought because one of their first choices didn’t choose them. I don’t mean that in a petty way and if UCLA is your dream school, I hope your dream is realized. But, for me, I’d rather go to a good school that recognized my value from the start.

So when I got in for my alternate major, I called admissions and asked if there was any way I could switch into my main major or something else in the college of engineering. They said no, as all the spots were filled, and that the only way to get in was to attempt to transfer in. Just letting you guys know
So I guess that means no hope for engineering students, unless students currently enrolled get accepted elsewhere?

Well, that explain why we haven’t seen any engineering majors get off the waitlist 
Guess there’s not much hope then since my alternate major was also an engineering major lol…

Hey guys, I had some technical difficulties with my application where I opted for the waitlist but on their records it showed that I didn’t. Long story short, they extended my deadline for the additional information section. Since I cannot access the page, do you guys have any tips for what I could write? What did most of you write about? I’d really appreciate some help 
@ksalam I wrote about why I wanted to attend UCLA and why I chose my major. I also wrote a bit about my extra-curricular interests and how I see myself contributing to the UCLA community. Just be honest and be yourself!

I just contacted the engineering department in UCLA for admissions, and they said that they won’t be admitting any for engineering. Contacted them this morning.
