I just wanted to create a new discussion. I got waitlisted but now I need something to put in my information section. Any ideas? And good luck to anyone in the same situation, we can do it!
I’m putting in my new achievements, basically what I’ve been up to since applying
I was waitlisted too and am actually very thankful because I expected a rejection. Do you guys know how much fall senior grades matter in waitlist prospects?
http://admitguide.com/uc-waitlist/
check this out. It seems to emphasize effort, but also high achievements like fall grades.
Waitlist party
Do you guys know how many students they pulled from the waitlist last year?
does anyone know how many students are waitlisted this year?
What majors did you guys apply for?
Check Ms Sun’s UC Admission Website. She usually posts waitlist and appeal stats each year.
I will not even bother to add anything. It is optional.
Your application already took you to a wait list. I bet a very scan attention was given initially to all the “soft staff”. essays, community service, ethnicity etc. It is a numbers game SAT and GPA. They can not realistically look in detail at one hundred thousand plus applicants. The first round may be more numbers and allocation across CA, out-of state and international. By probability it is easier to get into UCLA from out-state than CA,
The round two may allow them to look at the “soft staff”, those categories beyond the numbers.
Wait list may fall within the 4.0- 4.2 gpa and 2100 to 2300 SAT;. That was the lower 25%. In addition they can not take all the great students from one high school and they peppered it from high schools from every county of the state.
@jototo So are you saying what we add wouldn’t really matter?
@jototo I got a 2340 on the SAT and was waitlisted
My best friend got waitlisted and I hope she gets in. She’s ranked #2 in our class (4.7 gpa) and got waitlisted. I’m ranked 30 and I got in /:
I want her to get in too
I’m on the waitlist this year, about 12 kids from my school have gotten accepted- regular decision ! I have a 4.0 and sat score of 1690 I’m still positive wish me luck it’s an honor to be here!
In my additional information, I updated my semester grades (4.33 [4AP]) and talked about my current gpa (4.5 at least- when I submitted it ) I also added notes that hint that UCLA is my first choice and I WILL attend if accepted no doubt.
I also wrote a rubric for myself and basically included what I can contribute to UCLA and what the school can offer me. I made a note to include specific programs (like PREP) and volunteer opportunities only ucla can offer me, to show I’ve done research on the school.
I wrote a bit about my carreer goals and how I’ve been promoted and am still handling responsibilities in my extra curricular Activities with my AP classes since applying.
I really hope this helped with those stressing over additional information, of you’d like to see the rubric, please let me know!
Good Luck!!
