Thought I’d make a thread for it. Anyone else get waitlisted today? What’s your intended major, what is your next choice college, and do you plan to opt-in?
My intended was Undeclared Letters and Science, and I am opting in, though I think I’ll still be happy going to UC San Diego.
Waitlisted here too.

oh and do you know if the waitlist is binding? like if they accept me later, do I have to go? just asking since my placement of colleges are always changing now-a-days
Waitlists are not binding. You have an option to decline if you are accepted.
Waitlisted…Mathematics

Does anyone have any idea how many people were waitlisted? Tried to find stats on previous years waitlist numbers and numbers admitted but couldn’t find any info.
I could not find waitlist stats from 2015, but these are from 2014:
Waitlist: 3,700 offers
2,100 opt-ins
150 admits
(120 CA; 30 OOS)
@amjm907 edit response, Gumbymom is more accurate!
Also, for those who want to add, what are you planning to put on your statement in the opt-in? And did you get an invitation for Alumni?

Guys I’m so worried. I don’t understand. I don’t understand why I’ve been waitlisted - my essays were strong, my grades are the highest in my country and my SAT is 2220 with 800 in Math 2 subject test and 750 in Physics. (only possible thing is - I submitted my applications a day before the deadlines).
Waitlisted. Mechanical engineering. I will opt in soon but I’m disappointed.
Waitlisted for College of Letters and Sciences. Cognitive Science Major. International Student but US Citizen. My parents also pay California Taxes and have done so for the past 12 years that we’ve been out of the country and for over 15 years before that.
SAT: 2030
Next Choice: Cal Poly SLO or UC Davis
Rejected from: Purdue, UCSD (what even)
Accepted to: UCI, UCR
Waiting on: Occidental, NYU, USC, Pitzer, IU Bloomington, Reed
Tbh I was expecting a straight up rejection and was quite surprised I was waitlisted but I do honestly believe that’s as far as I’ll end up. Hoping to get into Oxy and hoping for financial aid and if I get it thats where I’ll probably end up otherwise I think Davis is my best bet. Not banking much on NYU and USC (way out of my league). But hey you can always dream, so obviously I’ll be opting in for the waitlist. Good luck to everyone!
Waitlisted for Biomedical Engineering as an out of state student.
3.87 UW, 4.35 UC Weighted, ACT: 32, SAT Math II: 800
I’m going to opt in, but I’m probably going to end up somewhere else, to be honest, even if I do get out of the waitlist.
I was accepted to UC Davis for BME and UCSD in my alternate major, molecular synthesis, so I’m pretty conflicted about what to do. I would have probably counted UCSD as one of my top schools if I’d only gotten in for the BME major. Just have to wait for UC Berkeley and see what happens.
does anyone know about when (or earliest) are waitlisted applicants notified that they are in
