I think it’s just a matter of having no regrets. If you think you will be happy at UCSD then go for it, plus it’ll save you the agony if they end up taking none or close to none off the waitlist, which i heard is very likely lol.

I was wait listed too, But compared to all of you I have the lowest GPA and SAT scores. GPA 3.9, SAT 1510 and the most extracurricular. I got in UCD and UCSB. But UCLA is my dream school.

Also I got an F

I got waitlisted too.

SO UCLA says they will start admitting students from the waitlist from after May 1 to no later than June.

Did ANYONE get in yet???

I am sooo nervous these days every time I check my e-mail.

I know that last year my friend was waitlisted to UCD and received admission offer on May 2 which is the day after SIR deadline…!

YUP i just got notified that i was admitted to fall 2012!

There’s no need to worry about being wait listed. Be thankful that they did and attend a school where you will have much better prospects for grad school.

UCLA’s site says decisions will be made on a rolling basis throughout May, and an email will be sent when your decisions updated. Good luck for everyone on waitlist ): I’m crossing my fingers too! 2260 GPA, 4.26 GPA, good EC’s.

I was expecting to get the final decision by 1st week of may and I requested other universities to extend my deadline till 14th may but so far I did not get any result from UCLA, 14th is approaching and now I am feeling helpless and do not know wot to do.
any one any suggestions??

Wait until the 13th then.
If not off waitlist commit to another school. I thought the May 1 SIR date was etched in stone so I SIR’d and paid deposit. I’m more than happy to lose the deposit if I get off the WL! UCLA states this could extend until June 1.

My daughter got wait listed at UCLA for 2012…and on May 4 eventually got admitted and taken off the waitlist! We have to retract her UCI intent to register! She got admitted to UCSB but turn downed by USC. This is the first year UCLA has a waiting list…Keep your hopes up!

You should! My daughter redid hers and got off the waiting list! :)

I have a question Engineer64. Did she submit right after she got notified of her waitlist?

I’m wondering whether they are picking people based off the order they opted in or whether or not they reevaluate everything.

Yes, and submitted before the deadline. We wondered also if the revise essay was read or not…She got off the waiting list May 4! Good luck Guys…

I was waitlisted too… 2030 SAT, 4.2 GPA, lots of ECs. I talked to the admissions people when I visited a few weeks ago- they said that there’s no order of how they notify people. There’s no ranking system. They literally go through your entire application again. They didn’t admit 16,000… they admitted around 5400. Then 5000 students were placed on the waitlist. of the 90000 applicants, we were some of the 5000 chosen for the waitlist, so feel pretty good about yourself. I expect that a lot of students are going to turn it down and go for the state schools (CSUs, community colleges, etc) because they can’t afford it. Anyways! My friend’s gf heard back around May 3, so I"m thinking that they started going through a chunk the applications around mid-April and started deciding from that chunk who was going to be in off the waitlist. That’s my reasoning… it’s sort of making me feel more hopeful haha good luck guys!

For what its worth… may daughter has SAT of 1700 + only and got accepted…GPA 4.3 lots of Community Service though…Good luck !

How did they notify you? Through mail or email?

I got off the waitlist on the 8th gpa 4.3 SAT 2000 ACT 31 biz/Econ major. People are getting off the waitlist, in fact 4 of our 7 waitlistees with stats like mine made it off the list. Good luck and GO BRUINS!

Not sure where you’re getting your stats from, but I’d bet money that they admitted far more than 5400. I’d guess it’s probably much closer to 15,000 than to 5,400. Engineering alone admitted over 2,000, and they’re only about 10% of the campus population.

Did your daughter write an additional essay for UCLA waitlist offer?

About how many people do you guys know who have decided or probably will decide to attend UCLA? Out of the 9 people who I know got into UCLA, about 3 are deciding to attend. There are a lot who are really unsure though. This could give us an idea of whether there will be any room for us wait list kids. :(
