UCLA- Where is everybody going to live?

a small 4x4 picture of ur face with a white background.

For people who will be living off campus, when are you planning on finding an apartment? I’m assuming rents will go up and availability will go down the closer it gets to the beginning of the school year.

I want a year of living on-campus. I’ve been stalking the UCLA thread for the last week and decided I most want a plaza, one roommate, and a shared bathroom. (Whether I can AFFORD this is another story altogether.) As for the picture, the UCLA thread says that it absolutely doesn’t matter and most students just leave it blank.

I talked to a friend of mine last night who already goes to UCLA and we decided to live together and she has already started looking for places. When my boyfriend went to UCLA, his first year he waited until 1 1/2-2months before classes started to start looking and there weren’t many options. He got lucky and found a place at Club Cali.

So I guess if we all decide to go there we should probably start looking within the next couple weeks or so.

those of you who think you would hate living in a dorm…i have a friend that transferred there and moved to hedrick summit and as i thought i would never do that, it was actually really night. the suites are - 8 rooms(1 person each) divided in half by bathrooms. 4/2/4. they’re new - AC works wonders compared to some of the other dorms i’ve been in - you also get your own climate control in each room. Rooms are like…8x12’? i would guess. They come with a twin bed and mattress, desk, and armoire. You can have a mini fridgemmmbeer. I think you apply for a lottery to get in, but i also think first year transfers get in easily. It is far away, but people who think they’ll be able to find an apt that is close to campus, good luck. Also there’s a dining hall right next to it and a gym. It’s pretty social( people were really friendly and a couple people asked me if i lived on their floor because they had never seen me before.) The thing i like most about it is you’re not sharing a room and once you’re in there you can shut yourself off from the noise. Also since it’s a new building the sound of a ping pong ball doesn’t echo through your room. people yelling chug might though lol. of course you aren’t supposed to drink. people do it anyways. they say if they can’t smell it and they can’t hear it they can’t come in your room and look. the ra’s are usually pretty cool. if you’re 21 they may come and have a drink with you. k i’m done

a passport picture isn’t a 4x4 they need something to put on your bruin card. which is the size of the picture on your license. They might be able to size down a 4x4, but i wouldn’t count on it.

nproamr (or anyone who knows): What’s the difference between a suite and a plaza? And aren’t there suites that also have 2-3 people per room?

Off-campus in a cardboard box among the homeless…jk I chose UCSD over UCLA even before UCLA decisions.

feefee i called the ex. i’ll let you know what i find out.

k she said suite - 3 or 4 rooms with a common room. more like an apartment.
plaza - 2 or 3 rooms (shared)
she doesn’t know of any suites with shared rooms.

Does anyone know if the off-campus apartments are furnished at all?

Rent free guest house in sherman oaks ftw!

Only downside is social life. I plan to join some clubs though.

The off-campus apartments are sparsely furnished- twin bed, desk, chair, couch, and kitchen table. That’s about it, from what I can recall.

Rieber Hall or De Nava Plaza …

Plaza! My friend was there and so was my cousin. It looks very nice. Specifically, I’d take De Neve…
