UCLA: Where Will You Be Parking Your Car?

Its time I figure out where my car can be parked at UCLA.

I'm going to be living in Rieber Terrace, though it seems there are no parking garages near there, unless I'm utilizing UCLA's own parking , though is expensive.

Perhaps a local garage and pay a monthly or quarterly fee?

Best solution?

i’m not sure what your limit is, but some places lease parking spaces for $100 a month (which is much more expensive than UCLA’s own optional parking, which i think is around $60/mo)

Has anyone been granted or denied a parking permit? I heard a rumor that someone was granted a permit back in June, but I’m skeptical.

UCLA’s transportation website mentions that application results will be available 7/29.

parking is a little under $250 a quarter. i had a pass for fall and spring quarter, and all i did was indicate that i was working off campus and they granted me one. street parking isn’t really hard to find either if you’re persistent enough, don’t mind the walking distance, aware of street cleaning days, willing to move your car around once a week, and know most of the street parking spots around westwood. it’s hard, but it is doable - you can probably get away with using street parking for the entire quarter if you know your streets enough

i am parking my car in 3st. if i wasnt communting from h-wood i would most def not have a car on campus.

Anyone wanna point out the free parking spots around westwood? Street names, etc

I’m beginning to think that at the start of the quarter i’ll be parking in random parts throughout the streets. I’ve parked on the streets frequently upon needing to quickly visit the campus for a variety of reasons…

The only small concern is the walking distance, of which i’d imagine to be far from my dorming, but something i’ll put up with so long as I write in my calendar the street sweep days. I’m sure its doable, and in fact may stick with it the entire quarter, assuming its not too daunting.

Paying $250 a quarter to park my car, away from my dorm seems like a self slap in the face, would I ever go for it.

Looks like i’ll be trying my best on holding out.

since im procrastinating on this final paper…

UNLIMITED PARKING (EXCEPT THURSDAYS OR FRIDAYS FROM 8-11AM):

the side of veteran facing the memorial park is unlimited parking, but street cleaning is on friday from 8-11am

the side of veteran facing the apartments is unlimited parking, but street cleaning is on thursdays from 8-11am

the side of gayley facing the dorms is unlimited parking, but street cleaning is on thursdays from 8am-11am

the side of gayley facing the apartments and frat houses (sigma chi, theta chi, pike, etc)
is unlimited parking, but street cleaning is on fridays from 8am-11am

some sides of strathmore is also unlimited parking, but street cleaning is on thursdays or fridays depending which side - also 8am-11am

some sides of levering is also unlimited parking, but street cleaning is on thursdays or fridays depending on which side - also 8am-11am

NOT UNLIMITED:

if you can’t find any unlimited street parking, you can park on veteran and gayley (the parking is on veteran, the part of the street facing ucla NOT the houses across from it) but not from 3pm-7pm in order to relieve traffic, so after 7pm you can leave your car there until 3pm the next day (theoretically) and im not sure what days are street cleaning for this side

anything else is a 2 HOUR PARKING SPOT FROM 8AM-6PM, so if you’re really desperate to leave your car here, and if you’re lucky enough to find street parking you can park your car from 4PM-10AM the next day without getting a ticket (theoretically)

keep in mind to always look at your street signs, if the sign is green or green&red then it’s limited parking, if the sign is only red then it’s unlimited with the exception of street cleaning days

^thanks!!! Highly appreciated!
