I agree that 2140 may be a little low for a college that’s super hard to get in for engineering, but your high ranking should definitely give you a boost up! I’d say you have a pretty fair chance of getting in. :)

That’s ridiculous. UCLA (and all other UCs) care about GPA much more than about test scores. OP has a great GPA and OP’s SAT score is above UCLA’s average. A 2300 SAT score is unnecessary for the UCs.

SAT is a little on the low side, and you seem to lack in extracurriculars and leadership. Also, CS is a competitive major almost anywhere, so you need to outshine other applicants. Being Val certainly helps, but add something more. Use the personal statement section to do this. Out of all the UC’s, UCLA and UCB consider applications on a very holistic level, so make those personal statements strong! I’d put you at a high match for UCLA

@Mangiafuoco: Son was accepted at UCLA for computer engineering and his SAT score was over 2300. Son wasn’t valedictorian (#5/800), but he had a laundry list of EC’s. Classmates who also got into this school were also in 2300+ range.

When we went to Accepted Students Day at the College of Engineering, the Dean indicated that the admissions committee was impressed by the numbers. Most of the students accepted into the engineering department had similar scores-over 2300.
Just my experience so if you know something different, let us know.
