Ok, so my chemistry teacher sent out the final grades today, and it turns out I got a C. What do I Do!??!?!! Should I retake the class next semester or during the summer, or should I stick with the C. This is my first semester at a community college, and I'm planning on transferring to UCLA/UCB/UCSD/UCD Probably some private schools too. Btw, this class is a prerequisite for my major, which is Biological Sciences. Is my chances ruined for UCLA and Berkeley? And if I take the class again, will my second grade replace the C, in terms of GPA?

No, a retake will not replace your grade for transfer admissions (unless something has changed since I transferred.)

Just get A's to make up for the C. :)

Take the next Chemistry class in the sequence and get an A.

"this class is a prerequisite for my major"

Retake it. The A won't replace the C, but the admissions officer will want you to have an A in prerequisite courses.

just retaking it and getting the A is better than simply moving on

whoa!!! its UCLAri!!!

Actually its better to improve in the next sequence. Since it is based partly on your knowledge of the previous course, getting a higher grade would mean that you have a better understanding on the concepts.

Although the grade does not replace, they may do an average of the two grade, this depends on the policy of the university you are trying to transfer to.

Does your CC even allow you to retake the course? You may have to go to another CC.

As far as I know, CCs will only allow you to retake the course if you earned a D or F (or withdrew with a W).
