Hello everyone. I am going to be in the class of 2014 at a college. One of the colleges I applied to was UCLA. I feel justified posting in this thread.

@tywish

GPA seems to satisfy requirements based on your ethnicity. (No need to be offended, I’m going by their scale)

Test scores are a bit low…I see you haven’t taken a third subject test (2 required, 3 recommended)

You might have to depend on your personal statement…

@samuelking

What’s your ethnicity? Your GPA and scores are competent enough for HSSEAS. Also, what other activities are you involved in? Volunteer hours? Personal statement topic?

samuelking:

Slight Reach, do you have any extracurricular activities/leadership positions?

CHANCE ME PLEASE I’m planning on majoring in Biology

Do I have a chance? UCLA is my dream school!!!

With literally zero extracurriculars (no, sports teams don’t count), volunteering, or leadership positions you have virtually no chance at UCLA or any other top tier university. I don’t know who gave you the impression that they were unnecessary but you obviously received some bad advice somewhere along the line.

If you want in really badly, suck up your pride and try the community college route. Join clubs in fields of interest, do some volunteer work, and find some leadership positions in those activities so that you’re a better-rounded applicant next time.

skitariister,

The UC’s only look at the two highest subject tests, even if you have a third. Unless my high school counselors are mistaken, which very well could be the case.

UCLA and UC Berkeley probably look at the 3rd, but I doubt it makes much of a difference.

Did anyone get an extra supplemental form from UCLA?
I got one and it wanted two extra essays and they wanted to know my senior grades.

UCLA and Berkeley, sad to say, but they rate applicants mainly on their SAT. I dont know where you heard that if you dont have any extracirculars youll never get in as long as you have high numbers your better off than a super involved kid with low numbers.

@tywish
My friend did, she’s going to do it feeling obligated to

@lilkfox- Yea the rumor going around is that there for boarder line students. Still I feel its better to have gotten one than not.

anyone know how many they sent out? I was like the only one I know who got one at my school
